Was Obama "punch drunk" in 60 Minutes interview with Steve Kroft?

His remarks came in a“60 Minutes” interview in which he was pressed by Steve Kroft for laughing and chuckling several times while discussing the perilous state of the world’s economy.

“You're sitting here. And you're— you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, ‘I mean, he's sitting there just making jokes about money—’ How do you deal with— I mean: explain. . .” Kroft asked at one point.

“Are you punch-drunk?” Kroft said.

“No, no. There's gotta be a little gallows humor to get you through the day,” Obama said, with a laugh.

As I read distortion after distortion from you, it becomes apparent that you are developing a fixation about Obama similar to the fixation Freetime has about McDermott. From the title of this thread, it appears that you don't even understand the definition of "punch drunk".

Again, being punch drunk is not the same thing as being "drunk". Punch drunk has nothing to do with alcohol. If you had put punch drunk in the the title of the thread, there would be nothing wrong with it. By leaving "punch" out of the title, you are implying that Obama was drunk during the 60 minutes interview. I guess you are willing to post any distortion or lie you can dream up because you disagree with the goals of the Obama administration.

Or how about when Freetime made the claim that Mirage was a drunk who spent his days looking at porn? I guess it's OK in Mirage's mind to make unsubstaniated charges as long as they are bashing our President. It's truly sad,IMO.

Leave it to the wingnut press and pundits to make this nonsense the headline of their stories. They completely ignore the important parts like where Obama took apart piece by piece Dick Cheney's argument about Obama making us less safer. One of Obama's answers was "How many terrorists have been brought to justice under Bush/Cheney"? I haven't heard a peep from the right over that one.

Well now if Obama supposedly doesn't lie, and you say he doesn't get high (at least anymore), that doesn't leave too much for an excuse. Is he just incompetent or is there another reason he is screwing up so much and so often?


BTW I seem to recall a few posters on previous boards try to more than imply that George Bush had a current drinking problem based on troubles in his youth. So I maintain by the same standard used then we can look at Obama's known party days and conduct today and at least raise the question of his soundness of mind.

I can tell you one thing that I'm 90% sure of as a result of a long history of dealing with Mirage. He hasn't even bothered to watch the frickin' video of the interview, other than a small snippet.

I don't really expect him to watch it, because he has shown repeatedly that he is far too intellectually lazy to worry about basing his opinions on reality. Apparently it's much easier to just grab some talking point from some right wing hack and run with it, whether it's true or not.

It's one thing to "disagree with the goals of the Obama Administration." But creating this thread is nothing more than a cheap shot at the President, and it is based upon no evidence whatsoever.

Actually I got the story from a link on the MSN homepage. I think it's fair to say MSN is not right wing anything.
