She is FOR and ABOUT COMMUNITY. My urge is for you to vote for her. She's one slick woman who will fulfill her duties. She hears about things that cops don't report. She will send you emails listing all the recent real crime reports.

No one else came to me and visited me when I was so fearful...and she listened better than a cop. Vote for her and because she cares about her community...not politics.

Guess who's upset with her candidacy? Unemployed :troll: freetime muttered:

Didja hear Janet Venecz announce, to no one's surprise, her candidacy for the 4th District City Council seat now held by Republican Kim Poland ?
Stew and Vera, also to no one's surprise, hosted her.
Glad to hear you were listening. Smile
Quote :
Vanecz's voice is a familiar one on WJOB, as she is heard often as the spokesperson of the Edison Community Watch.
First she headed the Edison Crime Watch, but I heard some folks got fed up with all the politicking going on and Vanecz is now associated with a new group called Community Watch, although some on WJOB constantly call it Crime Watch. I'm sure that's just a slip of the tongue.
You "heard"? Your usual tactic......start a rumor without any proof. Evil or Very Mad
Quote :
That's always been my problem with Crime Watch groups, too many people use it as a stepping stone to political office.
Of course in your twisted world running a tiny bakery is a stepping stone, right?
Quote :
But anyway, Stew and Vera asked Vanecz all the hard-hitting questions you'd expect of them. Laughing
Why didn't you call in? Afraid affraid Vera would carve up your idiotic unproven allegations like she always does,Loony tunes Question

You see, it's all about politics with FreeCash.

I never in my life heard of Jan until I got to finally meet her when I called her number as being the precinct captain...and this lady sat in and listened to me.

She seemed astonished that the crime where I was victimized twice three years ago was not even brought to her attention..and her job is to keep up on crimes in our area.

I never met such an intelligent, smart, very interested in what happened, what was the result, etc.

She in fact came across to me as kind of surprised that this happened in our division and no one knew.

Especially the latest crime where I told her the Mexican store was robbed, our gate was broken into, and they hopped the fence landing in the house rented by someone who is working at a huge company in Hammond. A gun was involved, twenty cop cars and no one knew who belonged or owned the house which was a rental.

This was news to her...so who is keeping the stories of crime away from Hammond residents? How did those that robbed the Mexican store just "KNOW" they could desert their vehicle in the middle of the street, hop fences and land at the rental next door?

Same response I got from the detectives. Someone in Hammond got robbed on Veterans Day this year, three years to the day my house got robbed. They took fingerprints. Wonder if the cops are smart enough to compare the prints that "take six weeks" to process and compare them to the idiots that normally rob on Veterans' Day every year. I would be called crazy of I pointed this out to the cops...

Pointing it out to someone who is more than involved in the safety of the community and attends crime watch meetings...had no idea. So, I suggest you all go out and vote for someone who must really be mad about things occurring not too far many blocks away...attending meetings for crime watch but have to rely on phone calls from her district. She doesn't take it lightly. She pursues and updates you via email the latest in what has happened in our district.

She isn't running for favors. She's running to make the community safer. I may add, I had no idea who she was...I only remembered a card I had when I first moved in...and decided to call her to report the latest that happened, rather than cops. Or, a newspaper that is more interested in selling 75 cents of advertising a day rather than inform and inform and inform.

Jan I only met once, but I'll be out there for her and will do everything to help raise awareness that she doesn't put up with the b.s. She gives all she has to make it "about us...".

If you have a problem with her FreeCash, you just worry about political parties. Not the person. I wouldn't care if she was Republican or Demo....I just know how she informed me listened...and still cares enough to send me emails because I can't hear at the meetings. The more the merrier. Why do people think one person should put up with one "Edison Neighborhood Watch" when they can further their experience, knowledge and present it in a better way thru another venue?

Are you more concerned about party affiliation, etc., than the fact that someone goes beyond their duties and want what the rest of us should have that they have....to be informed? You are nuts FreeCash.
Obviously, they don't expose everything at the regular neighborhood watch meetings...otherwise...she would have known about the experiences I had.

At least she has the guts to stand up for the community and not just herself or regular hearsay at regular meetings. She's INVOLVED.

By the way...why is it when someone is going to run for office...there's that excuse as if they didn't earn their way and just used their position to better themselves? Not just themselves, but the community.

There is a difference here, FreeCash...this woman and or her husband knocked on my door twice since 2004 just to talk outside and ask if everything was ok. speaking also to my son.

Go float on your speculations.

A quick note...a policeman knocked on my door shortly after my son arrived for the winter. Wanted to know if I wa "OK". I split after son came home...but it really made me feel safe knowing if a cop was knocking on my door to make sure I was ok. Back home now, and feel so happy that a policeman came hortly after I left and shortly after my son arrived to make sure I was ok.

I presume this happened because Janet visited me and knew how I was concerned about a previous break-in and the following break-in were how in the heck those guys that robbed the Columbia Avenue Mexican store knew they could stop their van down the street, and know they could enter a rental home next door..via patio doors.

I thank the police and am sure Janet is behind it...to check on me. I don't care if she is a Republican or a Democrat...I care about how SHE cares.

Free's pizzed off at anyone running for office, whether Demo or Repo..she thinks they run for office to support the mayor she hates.,

If they especially have the "D" along with their names....she'll find a reason to not want to support them.

That's her problem. Look inside the heart, the person...and don't call yourself Repo, Demo, or Independent.

Base your vote on WHAT THEY have done to earn your vote.

Who cares who she supports. Most everyone knows she's just an angry old crank. I hear her lawsuit may be coming to an end soon Laughing
Can we all say "sanctions"? Sure we can! :rolfcry:

City makes Mulberry near Flat Rock Tap resident-only parking
Quote :
HAMMOND | The City Council suspended its rules to allow for instant passage of a plan placing resident-only parking signs near Flat Rock Tap at Calumet Avenue and Mulberry Street.

The plan passed with no opposition.

Janet Venecz, a 4th District Democrat who ran for the council in the May primary, helped residents on Mulberry petition the city's Board of Works and Public Safety for resident-only parking signs for the block west of Flat Rock Tap at Calumet and Mulberry.

The bar legally can accommodate 190 customers but has parking spaces for only 14 vehicles, leaving patrons who arrive by car to search the surrounding area for a spot.

The city Street Department approved the change and posted six signs on the block in June. That angered Councilwoman Kim Poland, R-4th, who said Venecz went outside the established process for changing signs.

City ordinance requires district council members be notified of sign changes in their district.

Residents from the block spoke at a council meeting earlier this month and asked Poland to drop her opposition to the change.

The signs came down after the meeting, but Poland said she would poll residents and introduce an ordinance to change the signs if that's what the majority desired.

She later told the Board of Works she was fine with resident-only parking.

The bar will still have on-street parking from the alley east to Calumet.

Janet wouldn't do anything illegal or outside of HELPING those in her district. She's the one who says, "It's about community". She listens, goes out of her way, and also donates much time and bends her ears, does what it takes to make things right for those concerned.

She doesn't manipulate, wheel and deal. She knows the neighborhood, knows the proper and legal procedures to get things done. If you're wrong, she will tell you. If you're right, she will tell you. She is not one to "use connections". That's why I admire her. She's deeply involved with the issues in our district. I'm all for her and hope she wins. She will, based on honesty, integrity, and being a straight-shooter. She doesn't flaunt it, and or toot her own horn. She is the one I turn to when I need questions answered, or concerns.

janet did a great thing for the residents in this case. while poland originally tried to back her political benefactor over her constituants the pressure brought by the voters and janet eventually forced her to do the right thing.

in the end its all a good thing. kind of sad it had to be so difficult though

No one has ever accused Kim of being the sharpest tool in the shed.
