| http://www.post-trib.com/news/1355846,idemnogrant.articleAmong the programs affected are grants that help municipalities start up or expand recycling programs for hazardous waste, such as batteries; grants that help conserve water and energy; grants for equipment such as shredders, leaf vacuums, chippers, curbside vehicles, and recycling containers; educational efforts, such as promotion, advertising and training; and grants and loans to help businesses with new recycling projects.
The grants fall under the Waste Tire, Recycling, Pollution Prevention, Public Education Promotion, Household Hazardous Waste programs, and Recycling Market and Development Program loans. Mitch Daniels is still working from the old Republican playbook that maintains it is OK to save money by destroying the environment. He totally ignores the future cost of cleaning up the messes left by improper hazardous waste disposal. Good recycling programs save energy, cut down on waste and create jobs. This is a really bad decision by Mitch Daniels. | |

| I believe that Mitch Daniel's horrible record on the environment will really hurt him if he decides to run for president in 2012. Here is a story about Mitch's poor record on environmental issues. Our state is ranked 49 th in green initiatives nationwide. As this country starts to rebuild it's energy infrastructure, Indiana could be in a position to add jobs and growth because of it's large manufacturing base. Instead, we have cities like Elkhart with unemployment reaching 20%. It's time to "Ditch Mitch". - Rich Jackson,Post-Tribune wrote:
- Forbes magazine -- hardly the liberal elite media -- ranked Indiana 49th in green initiatives in the country. Only West Virginia was worse; Alabama is one ranking ahead. The magazine, published by two-time Republican presidential candidate and flat-taxer Steve Forbes, took into consideration air and water quality, hazardous waste management, carbon footprint, policy initiatives and energy consumption.
The choice of the national Republican Party shows how serious it is about energy issues and the environment. They are as serious as their speaker, the 49th greenest governor in the United States.

Mitch Daniels just said on the Don & Roma Show that he will not run for another office. So, I guess you have nothing to worry about. |
