CA Gov has a great idea...

I wish to goodness I would have copied the link - it appeared in the Drudge Report either Monday or Tuesday.

Gov of California stated that the way to cut down on expenses is (for reasons I don't have a link, I can't specifically state the savings)...

BUT, stated how many illegal immigrants the state of California is housing. He stated he would be willing to spend a billion (all states should chip in, in my opinion) and build multiple prisons in Mexico, and send all the illegal felons to Mexico "and let them take care of them" (unquote).

He cited how much it costs the state to house these illegal prisoners, and how much the state could save by just building a jail for Mexico to allow Mexico to take illegal prisoners in.

I thought it was such a great idea for all states to do this, and it would greatly reduce our deficent.

Why I can't find the article, I don't know...I tried every goose trick there was. I know someone will find it.

But, why stop there? Not a word about those entering illegally in the US and how much it costs the taxpayers to give them free medical, free food stamps, etc.


Why can't Washington order all states to send the illegals home. They are costing a lot of money.

Also, everyone blames Bush (including me) for such a huge deficit, but common sense tells you billions were spent in Iraq, then rebuilding Iraq, and that is what really affected the US economy.

The manufacturers, companies went overseas. The CEO's live here. Tell them to go live where they took their businesses, and let us create our own manufacturing businesses and put people back to work. I don't know the economics behind it, but simply put, bring back the manufacturing jobs...and close up the borders, and break ties with countries money-wise, until (like Africa), until we get back on our feet.

How hard is that? Go back to making our own underwear, t-shirts, nightgowns, everything. Why can't we? At this point, people will take ANY job - so you can't say we won't work for less than $10.00 an hour? We are known to work two jobs at the same time.

It's so clear as to the illegals running up the cash register, so why aren't we deporting them? You can find millions living illegal in E.C., South Chicago, Hegewisch, Bridgeview, Detroit, MI, etc. That would really be a cut in deficits.

Check out the DHS' office, they give out the free medical and stuff, whether you're here legally or not. Start there.

The Mexican government doesn't care. They have no interest to stop it. I've read that the amount of money sent back to Mexico by illegals is the country's biggest source of income outside of oil.

Which would be the death knell for our Wal-Mart addicted culture. If you think we have a hard time economically now, wait 'til all our goods are manufactured by individuals making minimum wage instead of 3 cents an hour.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday offered yet another way California can save on incarcerating illegal immigrants: pay to build prisons in Mexico.

Schwarzenegger said in a Sacramento Press Club speech that rather than raise taxes, the state could find money by cutting pension costs, allowing offshore oil drilling and lowering prison expenditures.

His budget calls for an $880 million infusion from the federal government to pay for housing illegal immigrant prisoners who have committed crimes in California. The governor also wants to rely more on private prison companies.

But he also gave an off-the-cuff suggestion that California send undocumented inmates to Mexico and pay to build and run new prisons there.

"We can do so much better, in the prison system alone, if we can go and take inmates – for instance, the 20,000 inmates that are illegal immigrants that are here – and get them to Mexico," Schwarzenegger said.

"We pay them to build a prison down in Mexico and then we have those undocumented immigrants be down there in the prison," he added. "Half the cost to build the prisons and half the cost to run the prisons. That is money, again, a billion dollars right there that can go into higher education. That is an example of one of the things we do that is unnecessary spending."

Schwarzenegger's idea had not been vetted. The Governor's Office was unable to answer, for instance, whether he would like to send all illegal immigrant prisoners to Mexico or just those who have Mexican citizenship.

Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear said the governor as of now has no official plan to send prisoners to Mexico.

"It's an idea that people have mentioned to him," McLear said. "We need to spend less on prisons and more on higher education, and he thinks we ought to debate any creative solutions to do that."

State Sen. Tom Harman, R-Huntington Beach, a candidate for attorney general, said Schwarzenegger's idea raises concerns that inmates would leave prison early and return to California. He would rather have the state focus on getting more federal money.

"We send them across the border, they get out of prison, and – boom – they're back in California," Harman said.

Assemblyman Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, also running for attorney general, agreed that Schwarzenegger should focus on seeking federal funds to house those prisoners. He said he didn't think the governor was serious.

"If he is, he's living in Alice in Wonderland," Lieu said. "First off, this has no impact on our budget crisis because it takes an awfully long time to build a prison. Second, if a criminal does a crime in California, he should do the time here. Otherwise it's a form of early release."

Well, after reading the comments following that article...the best suggestion was to just send them home. Why spend money we don't have and end up with them just coming back to the USA?

So, the logical answer is to follow the law...export every damn one of them and the other 150 groups of other nationalities back where they came from and send their countries a bill for the expense. How logical can that be? Common sense doesn't cost a damn dime if you follow the law.

Illegals should be the first to address as far as saving money. Then tackle the economy which can pay their taxes, save their homes, be less of a burden on welfare. Then most importantly above all, abolish the fifteen fold tier of useless poilitical positions. Pretend it's Kennedy in office and Clinton...at least Clinton left a surplus. Bush screwed up and Obama is brainless.

If we make our own products people being at work stimulate the economy. Shuts China out of business. Americans want American clothing at the least. Shoes that fit the sze they state, not what size a Jap thinks we wear.

So, Heretic...you're suggesting we stay stagnant, keep on doing what we do, shelter the illegals, and keep buying fronm corporations that went overseas? What's your solution?

I say, bring back early history. Let them depend on US for exports. At this point in time, millions would work for less wages to build the economy back up to where it was before we shipped our jobs overseas.

Yes, we're that desperate, But, until you get rid of the illegals draining the system, nothing will change.

If they're that damn corrupt down there, spend a couple billion to build a 12 foot cement wall or an 18 foot wall. It pays off eventually. We're throwing money at then right now at a rate of 15 times that amount.

If you don't think immigration has an impact, I know of a store owner who I don't even know his nationality, but employed an India guy that ripped him off $40,000.00 from his business right here in Hammond. Instead of reporting him, he bought him a ticket to deport to India. So, what kind of taxes was Hammond/Feds/States screwed out of....not to mention he's opening another business without Hammond knowing, Those are the illegals robbing US. But they're entitled, ya know?

Provided we pay them enough to afford products made by people making over 3 cents an hour. That's the key. A ton more jobs paying as little as Wal-Mart won't enable workers to afford more than they make.

I'm not suggesting anything; I'm only explaining why it's a little more complicated than "the illegals did it." As far as solutions... well, I've always said I'm terrible at writing policy.
