| If the Democrat Owens wins tonight we take back a seat that the Repubs have had since the civil war. If we lose it just encourages the residents of Planet Wingnuttia to torpedo more moderate candidates and run right-wing kooks instead. Hellooooooo Charlie Crist! That might play in hard right districts like NY-23 but it ain't gonna fly in statewide or most congressional districts.
In any event,NY-23 may be redistricted in the future and disappear.

| Are you serious? The Republican had already dropped out. You can blame the local party for poorly choosing their candidate. So this race was a yawn. OTOH in REAL contests elsewhere the Dems heard the people say "Hell No-bama!" Hey, that chant could catch on. In NJ they outspent the GOP 3:1 and had several Obama appearances on the Dem's behalf. Looks like Obama overestimated his political capital. | |

It's representative of the far-right of the Republican wing saying that there is no room for moderates within the party further isolating themselves. - Passion wrote:

All this really says is that the Democrats underestimated their abilities and sat at home. It's good for the Democrats that they get the opportunity to realize this on such a small scale election year. Hopefully these Republican wins are enough to shake up the Democrats to re-energize them enough to take 2010 seriously.

No,you can thank wingnut kooks like Sarah Palin,Dick Armey, and Rick Santorum for butting into the race, sabotaging the GOP candidate, forcing her to drop out of the race. Exit polls also showed that Obama had nothing to do with any losses. - Quote :

I hope you realize that Chris Christie, the Republican, won by being a moderate, and not as a teabagging kook. Your party is still in plenty of trouble with the teabag crowd in charge of it.
