Poe's law

Poe's law is an adage of Internet culture stating that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, it is impossible to create a parody of extreme views so obviously exaggerated that it cannot be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of the parodied views.

The original statement of the adage, by Nathan Poe, was:

Quote :
Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is utterly impossible to parody a Creationist in such a way that someone won't mistake for the genuine article.

Always hard to tell when it comes to Republicans and their justifications for rape.

Even harder to tell when you have no sense of humor whatsoever.

Y'know, we are all fully aware that you Lefties are insufferable, joyless shitstains.
There's really no need to belabor the point every single chance you get.

Slate Writer Gets Ripped To Shreds After Attacking George H. W. Bush's Loyal Service Dog

Over the weekend, a photo of George H.W. Bush's service dog went viral. The photo showed Sully, a two-year-old yellow Labrador, laying in front of Bush's flag-draped coffin, looking sullen.
Bush's longtime aide and friend, Jim McGrath, posted the picture on Twitter, which then blew up across the internet.

So how did the liberal online magazine Slate respond to the moving photograph? By writing a piece headlined: "Don’t Spend Your Emotional Energy on Sully H.W. Bush."

"It’s a bit demented to project soul-wrenching grief onto a dog’s decision to lie down in front of a casket. Is Sully “heroic” for learning to obey the human beings who taught him to perform certain tasks? Does the photo say anything special about this dog’s particular loyalty or judgment, or is he just … there? Also, if dogs are subject to praise for obeying their masters, what do we do about the pets who eat their owners’ dead (or even just passed-out) bodies?
The photograph, in other words, is not proof that Sully is a particularly “good boy” or that “we don’t deserve dogs,” as countless swooning tweets put it on Monday. On its own, it says almost nothing other than the fact that Sully was, at one point in the same room as the casket of his former boss. This is simply a photograph of a dog doing something dogs love to do: Lie down. The frenzy around it captures something humans love to do, too: Project our own emotional needs onto animals."

Well.
Needless to say, Slate got absolutely shredded for the pointless piece.

Do you on the Left seriously not realize that you have become parodies of yourselves?
It's barely sporting to ridicule you anymore; you do such a fine job of making complete and utter assholes of yourselves that you need no help from me or anyone else.
Just for a second, pretend that Donald Trump is not the President, take a few deep breaths, and make at least a half-hearted attempt to regain what little sanity you may have once had.

Huffington Post Attacks Beloved TV Christmas Special Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer – Gets Instantly Mocked!
Jorge Arenas  November 29, 2018  Television 1

The Huffington Post released a video claiming the beloved Christmas TV special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer from Rankin and Bass “is seriously problematic.”

The holiday TV classic “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer” is seriously problematic. The two minute plus video clip laments the Christmas classic for what they call problematic elements. The video toggles back and forth from random twitter comments while also making its own moralizing points about the Christmas special. However, all of the random Twitter users and the Huffington Post video editor and team who put this together seemed to have missed the point of the movie, or what is more likely the case, they’ve never even seen the film in its entirety.

But before we even get to the absolute ridiculousness of the video, the first two Twitter comments they use in the video appear to have been deleted. The first by Garytt Poirier appears to have been deleted. The Tweet reads, “Yearly reminder that #Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is a parable on racism & homophobia w/ Santa as a bigoted exploitative prick.”

While Poirer appears to have deleted his original comment he did double down on his views in a follow-up Tweet:

I literally tweeted this 3+ weeks ago when the tv special was on. The tv special has subtext of racism and homophobia. And Santa is a total dick in the tv special. Also made in 1964 in the heart of the civil rights movement.
— Garytt Poirier (@Garytt) December 18, 2017

But is that really what the Christmas special is really about? First off, the idea that the show somehow is a parable on racism would be difficult to make is because Rudolph is a reindeer and it’s other reindeer who are picking on him because he has a different nose. It would make much more sense if Rudolph was a different animal or even breed. Then that claim would have some ground to stand on.

Next, Poirier claims the special is somehow about homophobia. Where to start? Um, the simplest answer I can give is no. Sexuality, hetero or homosexual isn’t even touched upon in the classic show. The focus is on the fact that Rudolph is physically different because of his red glowing nose.

The second Tweet appears to come from an account that no longer appears to exist. The user writes, “Santa’s operation is an HR nightmare and in serious need of diversity and inclusion training. #Rudolph.” But was that really the issue in the movie? Well, Hermey, the young elf, was different and wanted to be a Dentist. The resistance to not following in your family’s footsteps is what is at issue more than some idea that this is a “diversity and inclusion training” problem. And Hermey actually gets to become a dentist in the end!

It’s as if both users and the HuffPost missed the entire premise and point of the plot. And given the fact there is a literal narrative from Burl Ives refuting them, one can only assume they never watched the actual movie. Ives narrates, “When everybody hears their story, they start to realize, maybe, they were a little hard on the misfits. Maybe misfits have a place too. Even Santa realizes maybe he was wrong.” The actual show makes it a point to show that how Santa and the reindeer treat Rudolph is wrong. In fact, Rudolph becomes the hero of the story and saves Christmas because of his red-nose. He’s able to light the way and guide Santa’s sleigh on Christmas day.

The story even sees the Abominable Snowman reformed as he tops the Christmas tree with a star.

However, that didn’t stop the Huffington Post from trying to push what appears to be their own agenda. Fortunately, a number of folks on Twitter weren’t falling for the Huffington Post’s completely ludicrous and nonsensical take on Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

So what do you think? Did HuffPost have a point about Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer? Does the Christmas special have so-called problematic elements? Or do they deserve the mocking they are currently getting online? Do you think they have even seen the Christmas special? Let me know in the comments below!

Mika Brzezinski apologizes after calling Mike Pompeo 'a wannabe dictator's butt boy' on 'Morning Joe'

Taryn Ryder

Mika Brzezinski is apologizing for her poor “choice of words” on Wednesday’s Morning Joe.
During a segment this morning, the MSNBC host went after Mike Pompeo for his response to the murder of Saudi journalist and Washington Post writer Jamal Khashoggi, calling the secretary of state a “wannabe dictator’s butt boy.”

Oh, my.
Kevin Hart lost his job over this.
Will Mika suffer the same fate?

Jerry Seinfeld is 100% correct on this, and the author of the article has 100% of his head up his ass.

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/jerry-seinfeld-defends-kevin-hart-161900874.html

Jerry Seinfeld Defends Kevin Hart After the Oscars Host Controversy

Matt Miller
EsquireDecember 13, 2018

In only a matter of days, Kevin Hart was announced as the host of the upcoming Academy Awards and subsequently resigned from the position after outrage over old homophobic tweets and jokes. The Academy is still searching for someone to take his place, which has proved to be a difficult job, because, as former host Seth MacFarlane put it, it is a thankless job.
Though Kevin Hart is most definitely not the victim in this situation, Jerry Seinfeld has stepped up to defend his fellow comedian. "Kevin is in a position, because he is a brilliant comedian, to kind of decide what he wants to do. He doesn't have to step down. But he can," Seinfeld said in an interview with Willie Geist for an interview that will air on NBC's Sunday Today. "And when you look at the situation-well, who got screwed in that deal?"
An interesting question coming from Seinfeld, who less than two months ago said it wasn't too soon for Louis C.K. to make his comeback after admitting to sexual harassment in 2017.
"I think Kevin is going to be fine, but find another Kevin Hart? That's not so easy. He's a brilliant guy with a movie career," Seinfeld continued.
He then went on to make his usual middle-of-the-road anti-PC argument.
"We have been navigating these slalom gates forever," Seinfeld said. "Look, when I started out, there were dirty comedians-Well, if you want to get on The Tonight Show, you can't use any of those words. And a lot of us went, 'OK. I still want to play. I'll play.' Heres a new rule, we're cutting this out. 'Ok. I'll get around that.' So, that's our thing. It's like Lindsey Vonn: wherever you put the gates, I'm going to make them."
Seinfeld is carefully playing both sides here once again. And again, he's wrong. For Seinfeld, defending the bounds of comedy is more important than defending the people these comedians harm with their words or actions. His is an antiquated view of comedy, one that doesn't see how society has progressed in recent years. And once again, Seinfeld is coming at this situation from the point of view of an entertainer with his own disturbing past.
It might seem like Seinfeld is playing it safe in his defense of Hart, but his carefully chosen words have weight. And given his power in comedy-and entertainment as a whole-it's important to note who he's really defending here, and why he's doing it.

https://www.salon.com/2018/12/13/its-not-just-rudolph-holiday-tv-specials-are-mostly-creepy-weird-or-depressing-as-hell/

It’s not just “Rudolph”: Holiday TV specials are mostly creepy, weird or depressing as hell

………

But 1966’s “Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” airing on NBC on Christmas Day at 8 p.m., is truly a right-wing fantasy if you think about it. The Grinch, high on his peak,  is Donald Trump, assisted by a loyal if droopy-faced companion we can only guess is an avatar for Lindsey Graham or maybe Ted Cruz.
The residents of Whoville are all socialists, especially Cindy Lou Who, a.k.a. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Fake News. The Grinch wisely and soberly removes all of their wasteful indulgences and cancels the big Christmas party. A peaceful protest gums up the works until, just to shut them up, the Grinch gets his #MAGA on since Christmas arrives all the same. In the end, everybody falls in line to worship The Grinch and be rewarded with jobs and roast beast, presumably cooked to the texture of shoe leather as the good lord intended.

………

How's that?
Is that a more acceptable example of the point I was trying to make?
The Liberal is a member of the most joyless and pessimistic species in existence.
If I had the same attitude as you people, I would either not even bother getting out of bed in the morning, or I would get out of bed and immediately blow my brains out.
Seriously, how in the fuck do you people live like this?
Or a better question - why in the fuck do you people live like this?

Run Run Rudolph

by Joe Bob Briggs
December 13, 2018

NEW YORK—Everyone’s talking about the article in the Huffington Post that has shown us the racism, homophobia, child abuse, bullying, sexism, and exploitation of the handicapped that lie at the bigoted heart of the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Christmas special, but I don’t think it goes far enough.
It’s time we got rid of every holiday tradition that originated in the Dark Ages of a united grievance-free country.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, as I will shortly prove, is not just outdated, it’s a Communist attempt to turn our children into substance-abusing sex slaves.

I think we should junk that show, send it to the graveyard of ’60s television, get rid of Gene Autry—let’s face it, once that song gets into your head, you can’t get it out for days—and replace it with either the Chuck Berry version (“Santa make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down”) or the Joe Diffie version, “Leroy the Redneck Reindeer,” which tells the story of the reindeer who drives to the North Pole in his pickup wearing overalls and a John Deere cap.
Because the main advantage of both songs is that, right out of the chute, they get rid of the whole red-nose thing. When Chicago copywriter Robert May wrote the Red-Nosed Reindeer children’s book for a Montgomery Ward Christmas giveaway in 1939, the Soviet Union had just invaded Poland after signing a non-aggression pact with Hitler.
Helloooooooo! Wake up, people! Did anybody check Robert May’s party affiliations? Yeah, let the RED reindeer take over. Let’s do things differently this year. Sure, there are nine reindeer pulling the sleigh, but all the shots are called by the dictator reindeer, the strongman who solves all our problems for us.
“It’s a Communist attempt to turn our children into substance-abusing sex slaves.”
Then there’s the fact that Alcoholics Anonymous had recently been founded in Akron, Ohio, by Bill Wilson and Bob Smith, two apparently hopeless drunks who no doubt had the famous red whiskey nose popularized by W.C. Fields. Coincidence? I think not. We know what makes a nose glow, don’t we? And it’s not rosacea, acne, or the flu. The guy was a writer, obviously he was a drinker, it was one of those secret-handshake things that people in 12-step programs do so they’ll recognize one another at the West Hollywood breakfast meeting. It’s obviously a subliminal entrenched in the story so that the song says “Let the drunk speak, listen to the drunk,” in a way that will be accepted by the youth of our nation!
Would that it stopped there. I now ask a simple question:
What are Reindeer Games anyway?
Has anyone ever seen a reindeer playing a game? I suppose we could ask a Laplander, but I’m guessing no.
All those horns, all those hooves, the mixing of genders, the supple skin of the sleek does, the implied sadomasochism when they lock their antlers and toss each other around—Rudolph is obviously being told he’s not kinky enough for the big leagues, if you know what I mean and I think you do.
The story is an elaborate grooming technique, full of hints of forbidden pleasures that, because you’re socially awkward and wear glasses, you’re not allowed to experience.
Until…Santa tells you how much he loves your nose.
Need I stop here to review how many times, in the great literary works of history, the nose has been used as a substitute for another male appendage, not to mention the persistent belief that a prominent nose, a hooked nose, a protruding nose, or any kind of large nose has the same meaning, in certain circles, as big feet?
Do you see where Santa is going with this? Do you see where Robert May was going with it? Do you see where network television embedded actual pedophilia in the DNA of our Christmas celebration?
They’re not just toys, are they? They’re Misfit Toys! They’re broken, damaged, misshapen, weird in one way or another, but in the hands of Santa they become wondrous transformative treasures that have found their place in the universe. Just like you, little Rudolph.
Or Freddie. Or Timmy. Or Billyboy.
You need Santa to reshape you.
Why does the outcast elf want to be a dentist? Who gave him that oral fixation?
I can’t even go on with this. It leads us to places that would shock sex offenders serving life sentences in the Texas Department of Corrections.
But I have one last question:
What about Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster?
If you’ll recall, Bumble’s goal is to eat Rudolph’s entire family, but he’s foiled by Hermey the would-be dentist, who extracts all his sharp teeth.
Who is Bumble really and what does he represent?
Bumble is huge and white. He obviously exemplifies the decadent entitled bullying Caucasian race attempting to destroy diversity and inclusion in this nation, especially the inclusion of losers like Rudolph and Hermey, because Rudolph’s “big feet” are a threat to the established social order and Hermey’s bizarre fixations on the mouth are destructive to the future of civilization.
The extraction of Bumble’s teeth is a revolutionary social message: Shut up, white guy. The Reds are in charge now. We’re gonna run Santa down the freeway and right over your sorry ass.
Fifty-four years of CBS promoting Communist organizational techniques for the North American Man-Boy Love Association. Thank God we finally noticed.

Larry Elder is allowed to point these things out (but only cuz he's black).

https://townhall.com/columnists/larryelder/2019/01/31/media-call-kamala-harris-barack-obama-tiger-woods-black--but-not-naomi-osaka-n2540511

Media Call Kamala Harris, Barack Obama, Tiger Woods 'Black' -- But Not Naomi Osaka?

Larry Elder

Posted: Jan 31, 2019 12:01 AM

When Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., announced her candidacy for the 2020 presidential race, MSNBC's Chris Matthews asked a black guest whether Harris is "seen as African-American." The guest promptly assured a relieved Matthew: "Yes, I think she's seen as African-American. The fact that she was at Howard University today ... when she did her announcement press conference, she's going to South Carolina in the first week -- she's really planting her feet in the African-American community." Mother Jones magazine called Harris "a woman of color" who attended Howard University, where she "was inspired by a strong legacy of black achievement."
Being "African-American" or "black" is an important factor to Democrats, for whom white men need not apply -- unless you're Joe Biden. But Matthews poses an interesting question. Harris was born in Oakland, California. "Kamala" is a Sanskrit name meaning "lotus." Her mother is from India, her father from Jamaica. The Wall Street Journal describes Harris as "an African-American." An Oprah Magazine piece, however, updated after Harris' recent announcement, checked off several race/ethnicity boxes: "(Harris is) currently (California's) first African-American senator and the country's first South Asian-American senator. And now, with a 2020 run, she could be our first black female president." So, she's African-American, black and South Asian-American.

President Barack Obama, born in Hawaii, has a father from Kenya and a mother from Kansas. Obama calls himself, as do the media, "black" or "African-American." Occasionally, he is referred to as "biracial," but not often.
So, do the media describe Harris and Obama as black because that's their preference? Is that the rule, then -- that one is racially described the way one wants? If so, explain Tiger Woods.
Woods, like Harris and Obama, is also a blend of races and ethnicities. In 2002, ESPN wrote: "For the record, he is one-quarter Thai, one-quarter Chinese, one-quarter Caucasian, one-eighth African American and one-eighth Native American. Woods, however, according to ESPN, refers to himself as "Cablinasian," a word "he coined to identify who he is, a one-size-fits-all definition of his CAucasian, BLack, American INdian and ASIAN ancestries."

Woods' mother, Kultida Woods, says Tiger is "more Asian." She added, "A mother raises her son, and he had an Asian mother.'" But ESPN quoted Karen Narasaki, the former executive director of the Asian Americans Advancing Justice, who said: "Tiger Woods can call himself what he wants to call himself -- to most of America, he's black. Asian-American groups have thought to give him awards, but as far as I know he hasn't showed up to pick one up." In 2016, ESPN, along with other media outlets, ran an Associated Press story that described a book Woods planned to write about "when he broke 20 records and became the first player of black heritage to win a major championship." So much for Kultida's perspective, so much for Woods' preference for "Cablinasian." "Black" it is.

So if one parent is black, the child may be a blend of races, ethnicities and even nationalities, but he or she is also "black." Right?
What of tennis star Naomi Osaka, who just won the Australian Open? To ESPN, she is "the first tennis player from Japan to reach No. 1 in the rankings." USA Today called her "the first Japanese player, man or woman, to win a Grand Slam trophy." Osaka was born in Japan, but she has lived in America since age 3 and has dual Japanese and American citizenship. She says she "grew up in a Haitian household in New York," where she lived with her grandmother. Her mother is from Japan, her father from Haiti. She moved to Florida at age 9, still lives there, and often visits her grandparents in Long Island, New York. The U.K.'s Telegraph wrote, "Osaka is proud of her Haitian and American heritage but plays under the Japanese flag despite not being able to speak the language fluently." But one must search very hard for a news article describing Osaka as "black," despite her Haitian father. Even then, news outlets painstakingly describe her as "half-Haitian" or the daughter of a "Japanese mother" and a "Haitian" or "Haitian-American" father.

The point of all of this, of course, is what difference does it make? Martin Luther King Jr., whose birthday we recently celebrated, spoke of his vision of a society where "people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." A black childhood friend of mine married a white woman. "Linda" sought to enroll their son in a well-regarded school that touted its "diversity." It required an entrance exam, and, if the student scored high enough, an interview with the parents. During the interview, the school admissions administrator looked at the son and asked, "What race is he?" Linda replied, "What do you need?"

I wonder if the "adult men" at the Three Dollar Bill shoved the dollar bills in this kid's G-string.
Whatever these asshole parents happen to reap from this, they deserve it.

Which Parents Should Be Scolded?

by Brent Bozell and Tim Graham | February 2, 2019 7:58 AM EST

It's hard to fathom in this super-charged atmosphere but politics actually has been more tumultuous than it is today (See: War, Civil). On the other hand, the war to define, or better put, redefine American culture has never been more ferocious. It's militancy has reached the point that many on  the libertine-left media are aggressively, and quite publicly demanding parents abide by their world view or be ostracized from polite company. And what an ugly worldview it is.
On January 31, NBC’s Today show devoted a segment to an allegedly controversial Instagram post by Carey Hart, an off-road truck racer and the husband of the pop star Pink. He posted a video of his seven-year-old daughter Willow shooting a long rifle at the range.
Hart wrote this caption: ““Haven’t poked the parent police bear in a few days. Willz and I shooting the 22 rifle. She is getting pretty good. Can hit a 12 inch (30cm) pie plate from 30 yards (27 metres). Started her shooting at 3yrs old.” Hart said his family doesn’t hunt, just shoots for sport. “I’m raising the kids with knowledge of firearms, how to handle them, shoot them, store them, and avoid them in uneducated hands. #knowledgeispower.”
NBC’s Kristen Dahlgren warned “The response was swift. One critic commented ‘So confused about how something that symbolizes violence and fear needs to be taught to children.’”
But Hart is doing just the opposite, as anyone who owns a rifle (which we suspect doesn't include Dahlgren or her "critic) knows: Anyone using a firearm is taught to be afraid of them, hence the proper handling.
Dahlgren quoted others praising the video, but then turned to the doctors. “Between 2012 and 2014 an average of 7,000 children were killed or injured by firearms each year. The American Academy of Pediatrics stance is guns should be locked, unloaded and away from where children find them.”
Now, really. Exactly who disagrees with the idea that guns should be kept from children, under lock and key? Is Hart guilty of that as well?
NBC's reporter also noted “This is not the first time Hart's parenting has been called into question. Over the years, he and Pink have shared photos of their family online and some images like these of Hart riding dirt bikes with their kids have created a storm of criticism.”
On screen, the graphics read: “STICKING TO THEIR GUNS: “Pink’s husband criticized for teaching daughter to shoot.”
What should parents be teaching instead?
Well ... on June 18, 2018, the same “Today” show promoted fifth-grader Desmond Napoles as a wonderful phenomenon. What's he done to deserve this? These were the words on screen will explain: “DESMOND IS AMAZING: 10-year-old ‘Drag Kid’ taking the Internet by storm.”
They are no longer drag queens. They are drag kids. This is good parenting.
NBC reporter Kate Snow gushed: “Desmond is a self-described drag kid. When this Brooklyn fifth grader isn’t in school, he’s doing photo shoots and runway shows. He’s already been profiled in Vogue, and even has his own drag name. Desmond is Amazing.”
Snow explained “We met up with Desmond and his parents at the Phluid Project – a gender-neutral retail store in New York City. In contrast to their son, Wendy and Andrew Napoles say they couldn`t be more mainstream.”
Wrong. The mother said Desmond was “mesmerized” at age three as they both watched “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” a drag-queen competition, which aired then on the LGBT channel Logo.
Snow gently pushed back with what “people” might say, like “he’s only ten.” Desmond’s mom then uncorked this analogy: “Mozart first touched a piano when he was three. I think that there are talented children.  And if you see that talent and they want to do it, why not?”
....Unless they want to shoot guns.
Online, NBC oozed “Meet the 10-year-old ‘drag kid’ taking over social media with inspiring message,” and noted Desmond “is a smart, self-assured, and talented 10-year-old on the rise as a social media star” and he “hopes to continue promoting acceptance.”
In December, Desmond the “drag kid” did a dance number at a gay bar in Brooklyn called 3 Dollar Bill, collecting dollar bills from adult men in the crowd. NBC didn’t follow up to question the parents if this is “promoting acceptance.”
Does this make you want to celebrate -- or throw up?

You liberals really, really have no idea how fucking stupid these things are making you look, do you?
Keep up the good work!
(Full disclosure - I once fell face-first into a mud puddle and failed to wash until a half-hour later; it has haunted me for decades. Should I ever be nominated to the Supreme Court, I hope that the incident doesn't come up during my vetting.)

Virginia thrown into chaos over blackface, sexual assault scandals

By Ruth Brown

Virginia’s leadership crisis took an absurd turn Wednesday when the man who is second in line to become governor admitted he has worn blackface — even as Gov. Ralph Northam’s job is already on the line for the same thing and the man who is first in line to replace him is embroiled in a sex scandal.
The disastrous domino effect has now thrust the Republican state House speaker into the spotlight as the third in line for the top job — a man who only scored his post in a coin-toss election.
Democratic Attorney General Mark Herring on Wednesday issued a stunning statement admitting he wore brown makeup and a wig in 1980 to dress up as a black rapper when he was a University of Virginia student.
“In 1980, when I was a 19-year-old undergraduate in college, some friends suggested we attend a party dressed like rappers we listened to at the time, like Kurtis Blow, and perform a song. It sounds ridiculous even now writing it,” Herring said.
“But because of our ignorance and glib attitudes — and because we did not have an appreciation for the experiences and perspectives of others — we dressed up and put on wigs and brown makeup.”
The admission by the second in line to take over the statehouse came just days after he trashed Northam for much the same thing, declaring, “It is no longer possible for Gov. Northam to lead our commonwealth, and it is time for him to step down.”
Herring, who now claims his own blackface shame “has haunted me for decades,” did not offer to resign, saying instead that, “In the days ahead, honest conversations and discussions will make it clear whether I can or should continue to serve as attorney general.”
“No matter where we go from here, I will say that from the bottom of my heart, I am deeply, deeply sorry for the pain that I cause with this revelation,” he continued.
Questions over the state’s leadership first arose last week over a photo on Northam’s page in his medical school yearbook showing a man in blackface and another in KKK garb — and the next in line for his job, Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax, was then hit with sex assault allegations.
Northam has denied he is either of the men in the racist image and suggested it was placed on the page due to an editorial mixup — but in doing so he claimed to have once put on blackface to mimic Michael Jackson.

I could really have gotten behind this resolution had she not omitted free beer and pizza for all.
Liberals: are you excited to have hitched your wagon to this star?

Aside from "no free beer and pizza," what parts of this do you object to?

No objections.
I'd just like to know how she plans to go about ….

"Providing all people of the United States with high-quality health care, affordable, safe, and adequate housing, economic security, and access to clean water, clean air, healthy and affordable food, and nature."

Sorcery?
Wizardry?
Voodoo?
Santa Claus?
(Plus, I find it kind of sweet that she's gonna give everyone access to nature.
After all, however would I get it without her?)

What the hell is wrong with these people in Virginia?
Now I'm hearing rumors that Lt. Gov. Fairfax also admitted to appearing in blackface.

Jussie Smollett Hires Michael Cohen's Attorney Amid Attack Investigation

By Michael Hein - February 16, 2019

Jussie Smollett has reportedly hired Michael Monico, the lawyer who represented President Trump's attorney Michael Cohen, to defend him in the case of his alleged attack.
Smollett, a star on Fox's Empire, among other things, was attacked on a Chicago street on the night of Jan. 29. The actor's case has had some strange ups and downs as conflicting reports and evidence pile up. Some are even speculating that the assault was a hoax, and Smollet hiring a defense attorney has added fuel to that fire.

"Late tonight, high powered Chicago defense attorney Michael Monico confirmed to ET that he is now representing Jussie Smollett," tweeted Entertainment Tonight reporter Brendon Geoffrion on Friday. "It is unclear when Monico began representing Smollett. Monico most recently represented President Donald Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen."

A victim needs a "high powered defense attorney"?
That's a new one.

Chicago Police Seeking to Interview Jussie Smollett Again After Questioning Two Brothers

By Sopan Deb
Feb. 16, 2019

The Chicago Police Department said Saturday it was seeking to speak further with the “Empire” star Jussie Smollett amid reports that two brothers who were arrested and once considered potential suspects in an attack on the actor have told investigators they were paid to take part in a hoax.
Smollett has described an attack on him late last month in which two masked men assaulted him and yelled homophobic and racial slurs.
“After we spoke to the former suspects last night, detectives reached out to Jussie Smollett’s attorneys and expressed interest that we need to talk to him again,” Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Chicago police, said in a brief phone interview. He declined to discuss the reports that described accounts the brothers had reportedly made to investigators.
Although the brothers have been released, their hats remain at large. The hats have been described as red baseball-style caps with the acronym 'MAGA' in white lettering above the bill. An anonymous police source said that it is believed that the hats may have also been involved in a racially-charged hate crime against a Native American Vietnam veteran that took place last month in Washington, D.C., and that they should be considered dangerous. Police are advising that, should a citizen encounter one of the hats, it should not be worn under any circumstances.

Statue Vandalized with ‘#MeToo’ after Veteran Dies

By Mairead McArdle

February 20, 2019 10:24 AM

A statue based on the iconic ‘kissing sailor’ photograph snapped on V-J Day in Times Square was vandalized Monday night, spray-painted with the ‘#MeToo’ hashtag just hours after the veteran in the photo passed away.
Police in Sarasota, Florida, where the 26-foot statue stands, were called shortly after midnight Tuesday morning, responding to a report of an unknown individual spray-painting the phrase on the statue in red.
