| Another vote for weatherbug. I was using the paid version, but recently downgraded to the free one with ads and haven't had any problems. | |

So what did you take? Weatherbug and the one from the weather channel are the only two I trust |

| Weatherbug is nice
Just make sure to tweak it only for the alerts you want to be alerted to, otherwise you sill hear chirping over and over for idiotic things(like a non precipitation alert) |

| In the past I have used Weatherbug but I think I removed it either because it was causing problems or because it kept sounding an alert that it was going to rain or something.
FWIW one of the Tampa TV stations puffs Weatherbug all the time. |

FWIW one of the Tampa TV stations puffs Weatherbug all the time. So does Tommy Skillethead over on WGN. | |

| Mike, my subscription was linked to a credit card. Weatherbug was charging it once a year for a renewal. I just didn't want the charge anymore since I am trying to pay it down. | |

I used a debit card and never renewed it. My weatherbug right now is using a registration key I got back in 2005 I never renewed it |

FWIW one of the Tampa TV stations puffs Weatherbug all the time. Thats why you need to go in and select which alerts you want it to chirp for. Its automatically set to all, you need to decide what you want it to chirp for. Mine is only set for severe weather and tornado watch/warning weatherbug started around 2001, and initially it was on NBC(I think right now its on NBC and WGN right now in Chicago), then it went to Fox, and now its on WGN. They do deals with local communities to place sensors in as many places as possible and try to get a deal with a major network in the area(which they tend to get), and its useful because like around here, it may be 60 in Chicago(at O'hare) while it may be slightly cooler in Chesterton, where they have a sensor. Plus they have one in Valpo |

| In Tampa Bay I think it's actually the CBS affiliate and has been for years.
I really can't remember but I removed it for some reason and never put it back on. Adware perhaps?
It seems to me like I did have it on the minimal alert settings and was still giving alerts constantly to the point of being annoying. Then again in FL almost every thunderstorm is severe and creates flooding to someone, so technically that would be deemed an alert event.
It now dawns on me that since the NWS narrowed down the coverage areas such alerts may now be more beneficial. Maybe that was it, getting warnings for weather events 200 miles away that didn't really effect where I was. |

| I like it because they have a weather station on top of the career center here in Hammond. Closest station I have found to my house. | |
