At least seven major companies announced Thursday that they were pulling their sponsorship of Laura Ingraham’s Fox News program because of a Wednesday tweet by the anchor widely seen as mocking Parkland, Florida, school shooting survivor David Hogg.
Hulu, TripAdvisor, Wayfair, Nutrish, Expedia, Jos. A. Bank and Nestle bowed to public pressure to stop advertising on “The Ingraham Angle” after Hogg himself called for a boycott of her sponsors. (Expedia was not on Hogg’s initial target list of sponsors.)
The streaming TV service replied directly to Hogg’s call to action:

We’d like to confirm that we are no longer advertising on Laura Ingraham’s show and are monitoring all of our ad placements carefully. 5:58 PM - Mar 29, 2018

(Reuters) - Fox News show host Laura Ingraham announced on her show late Friday that she is taking next week off, after almost a dozen advertisers dropped her show after the conservative pundit mocked a teenage survivor of the Florida school massacre on Twitter.
Eleven companies so far have pulled their ads after a pushback by Parkland student David Hogg, 17, who called for a boycott of her advertisers.

Parents Upset Over TV Scene Of Sniper Shooting Near School
April 10, 2018 at 3:09 pm
.........
According to parents and school administrators, the scene involves a sniper shooting from a nearby residential building at a group of congressman who are playing basketball at the park. The parents are upset, CBS 2’s Dorothy Tucker reports, because students at Immacuate Conception St. Joseph (ICSJ) school are in class during production. The school borders the park. Jenner Elementary School and Walter Payton College Prep are also within about a block of the production. With the recent school shooting at Stoneman Douglas high school in Florida, along with violent crime in the city, parents fear their children would be frightened by the scene. Some parents emailed the city, asking officials to stop production. “These kids are subject to this violence on a daily basis in the news.” said parent Jennifer Kotecti. “Why do we have to come and see it simulated in a park where children play every day?” On Facebook, one parent wrote, “I think it’s not only insensitive based on recent events at other schools, but also the crime/real shootings in our neighborhood.Another was outraged that the “City of Chicago would allow the filming of a TV show involving a sniper scene in the immediate vicinity of a school on a school day.”
.........
Someone should probably inform these idiots that this a TELEVISION SHOW - you know, one of those make-believe things that pops up from time to time on those mysterious screens in their living rooms.

More than 20 companies have pulled their ads from Ingraham’s show since she mocked Parkland, Fla., high school shooting survivor David Hogg last month for being rejected by some colleges.
Hogg began targeting her advertisers after her tweet.
Ingraham later apologized and invited Hogg to appear again on her show. However, the student rejected the apology, saying that Ingraham had only offered it because she was starting to lose advertisers.
Ingraham took a planned weeklong vacation last week as advertisers dropped her show.
She marked her return to the network on Monday by attacking "Stalinist" efforts by liberal activists to "intimidate those who disagree with them."
SlimFast and Blue Apron pulled their ads on Tuesday, after Ingraham’s return.

If these children are normal, unlike you, they would probably consider it pretty cool to see an action flick being filmed. And if, unlike you, these kids aren't incredibly dense, they would understand that it is make-believe.

HYATTSVILLE, Md. - Seven students at an elementary school in Prince George’s County cut their wrists at school using blades from pencil sharpeners, according to officials. Officials with Prince George’s County Public Schools said a concerned parent at William Paca Elementary School in Hyattsville came forward on March 29 and an investigation was launched.
It was revealed that the students used blades out of pencil sharpeners to cut themselves, officials stated.
All seven students were seen by the school nurse and none of the children were taken to the hospital, according to officials. School counselors were brought in to speak with the students. Officials announced a ban on pencil sharpeners at the school in a message sent to parents on March 29 and said they worked to contact the families of students involved over spring break, which was between April 2 and April 6.
A few idiots completely misuse an inanimate object and the immediate reaction of the shit-for-brains administration is to ban the inanimate object. Brilliant. Perhaps they should consider banning walls so that students don't repeatedly slam their heads into them, possibly inducing concussions.

Or, they can ban pens and pencils, so that no one pokes themselves in the eye. They can ban erasers, because swallowing one could constitute a choking hazard. They can ban paper due to its high flammability. They can discontinue the use of books so that no one gets bludgeoned by a weighty tome. They can discontinue electrical service to the school so that no students can shove a paper clip into an outlet and electrocute themselves. They can discontinue the water supply to the school so that none of the students drown themselves in a sink or toilet. They can eliminate all schools with more than one story so that none of the students can kill or injure themselves by falling from a dangerous height. And don't even get me started on the dangers of gym class and chemlab. Is that how you think these situations should be dealt with - by banning every possible thing that can be misused?

Texas Mom Pushes Knife Control After Son Dies From Stabbing
By Tyler O'Neil April 19, 2018
The knife control craze seems set to cross the Atlantic. A mother who lost her son in a vicious knife attack went to the Texas capital of Austin to lobby Governor Greg Abbott for more restrictions on bladed weapons. As with gun control, she seems focused more on restricting access to the weapon the murderer used than on enabling victims to defend themselves. "Bottom line: It should have never happened that day. It should not have happened. [White] should have not been allowed to have an illegal knife on him and use it to murder somebody," Lori Brown, the mother of University of Texas at Austin student Harrison Brown, told KXAN News. Her son died in a stabbing attack on campus in May 2017, and she has decided to channel her grief into restricting the type of knife used to kill him. "I have nothing to lose. I will not take 'no' for an answer," Brown declared. "If something like [the stabbing attack] happens again, I just don't know what I would do."
Kendrex White, 21, has been charged with murder and aggravated assault in the stabbing spree that killed Brown's son. Police said he used a "Bowie-style" hunting knife to stab four male students. A little over a month after the stabbing, Abbott signed H.B. 1935 into law. The bill made it legal to carry Bowie knives and other large bladed weapons in more places around the state. Knives like the one used to kill Brown's son are still illegal on K-12 and college campuses, however. "In my opinion, [H.B. 1935] totally disregards Harrison and how he died and his murder," Brown told KXAN. "It really did feel like a slap in the face." "I'm hoping to maybe repeal, or amend, or maybe poke some holes into House Bill 1935," Brown announced. "In addition to that, I'd also like to see some changes made — on college campuses, university campuses and with this House Bill — that prevent knives, Bowie knives, swords, machetes from getting into the wrong hands and coming onto campus."H.B. 1935 expanded access to knives that were illegal to carry publicly in Texas previously. The law made Bowie knives, daggers, dirks, stilettos, poniards, swords, and spears legal to be carried throughout Texas, but it also forbade knives with blades over 5.5 inches in certain areas. Such weapons are illegal in establishments that receive more than 51 percent of their revenue from alcoholic sales, high school, college or professional sporting events, correctional facilities, medical facilities, amusement parks, or places of religious worship. "People in Texas really need to be aware of what their representatives are voting for," Brown told KXAN. "I just really feel like a lot of people don't realize what that House Bill means." The advocacy group Knife Rights, which supported H.B. 1935, said they have no plans for 2019 as of yet. "Knife Rights is always looking for ways to allow law-abiding citizens to carry whatever knife it is they want to carry and carry it wherever it is they want to carry it," Todd Rathner, the group's director of legislative affairs, told KXAN. "But we don't make plans for 2019 right now."
Major Gun Manufacturers Cut Ties with Dick’s Sporting Goods
A number of prominent gun manufacturers have announced that they will no longer do business with Dick’s Sporting Goods in response to the retailer’s support for stricter gun-control legislation.
After banning the sale of assault-style weapons and raising the minimum age for purchasing a gun to 21 in the wake of February’s Parkland, Fla. school shooting, Dick’s hired three Washington, D.C. lobbyists to fight for gun control on Capitol Hill, according to federal documents obtained by the Federalist. In response, the parent company of Mossberg guns, O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc., announced Wednesday that it would no longer sell guns to Dick’s.

In response, the parent company of Mossberg guns, O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc., announced Wednesday that it would no longer sell guns to Dick’s. “It has come to our attention that Dick’s Sporting Goods recently hired lobbyists on Capitol Hill to promote additional gun control,” CEO Iver Mossberg wrote in a press release. “Make no mistake, Mossberg is a staunch supporter of the U.S. Constitution and our Second Amendment rights, and we fully disagree with Dick’s Sporting Goods’ recent anti-Second Amendment actions.” Mossberg went on to encourage customers to “visit one of the thousands of pro-Second Amendment firearm retailers” instead of Dick’s. That announcement came one day after MKS Supply, which manufactures Hi-Point firearms, cut ties with Dick’s. “We believe that refusing to sell long guns to adults under age 21, while many young adults in our military are not similarly restricted, is wrong. We believe that villainizing modern sporting rifles in response to pressure from uninformed, anti-gun voices is wrong,” MKS Supply president Charles Brown wrote in the Tuesday statement. “We believe that hiring lobbyists to oppose American citizens’ freedoms secured by the Second Amendment is wrong. Dick’s Sporting Goods and Field & Stream, in purportedly doing all of these things, have demonstrated that they do not share our values. [We’re] standing by the American people by refusing any further sales to Dick’s Sporting Goods & Field & Stream.” A third manufacturer, Springfield Armory, discontinued its relationship with Dick’s last week.

You are right about that, but technology is going to make apprehension of the bad guys easier. Cities across the country are installing LPR's (license plate reading) cameras rapidly. They snap pictures of the license plates of every car that enters and leaves the city. Hammond has over 50 of them in place. Police receive real time information on every vehicle entering and leaving the city. If the car is stolen or the owner has warrants, alerts go out instantly. We have had dozens of arrests and solved numerous crimes with them.
A California high school teacher was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony child endangerment after allegedly forcibly cutting a student's hair as she sang the national anthem.
Margaret Gieszinger, a teacher at University Preparatory High School in Visalia, can be seen on video cutting a boy's hair and belting out the "Star Spangled Banner" in class. The minute-long recording, which was posted to Reddit on Wednesday, was verified to NBC News by College of the Sequoias Chief of Police Kevin Mizner.
In the video, Gieszinger flings chunks of the boy's hair behind her as she sings. When the boy stands up to leave, the teacher threatens to pick other students to go next. The video ends with students running outside after Gieszinger grabs a girl's long hair and the girl jerks away.

Can't wait 'til all those teachers have guns.
I believe that California is the only state in the country that retrieves guns from gun owners who subsequently are convicted of crimes that disqualify them from gun ownership. I wonder what this teacher will charged with?

You two do realize, don't you, that no guns were involved in this incident? Perhaps a 10-day waiting period for scissors should be implemented.
