Yeah. Well, that's a Straw Man Argument

Yeah. Well, I was making no argument, Straw Man or otherwise - I merely stated a fact.

Not a fact.  It's opinion.

Well, maybe saying that a border wall is regarded as a 'crime against humanity' was a little strong, so let me tone it down a bit.
Let us both just admit that Barry was merely engaging in 'immorality' when He did His part in building the wall.
I'm good with that if you are.

Why not just call Pelosi out for her remark? Of course, if you walked in a straight line, you'd probably get dizzy...

In the explosive video, Lieu fired the first shot at Owens by playing a short audio recording of her previous remarks at a conference in December, which were widely circulated in February, where she argued that she doesn’t have a problem with “nationalism.”
“I think the definition gets poisoned by elites that want globalism. Globalism is what I don't want.  When we say ‘nationalism,’ the first thing people think about — at least in America — is Hitler,” she is heard saying.
“You know, he was a national socialist, but if Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well, OK then, fine. The problem is, he had dreams outside of Germany. He wanted to globalize. He wanted everyone to be German. ...”\
Owens fired back at Lieu, accusing him of intentionally misrepresenting her views to drive a false narrative.
“I think it’s pretty apparent that Mr. Lieu believes that black people are stupid and will not pursue the full clip in its entirety,” Owens said.
“I think it’s pretty apparent that Mr. Lieu believes that black people are stupid and will not pursue the full clip in its entirety.”
“He is assuming that black people will not go and pursue the full two-hour clip. He purposefully cut off -- and you didn't hear the question that was asked of me. He's trying to present as if I was launching a defense of Hitler in Germany, when in fact the question that was presented to me was pertaining to whether I believed in nationalism, and that nationalism was bad,” she continued.

White House proposed releasing immigrant detainees in sanctuary cities, targeting political foes

Rachael Bade, Nick Miroff 3 hrs ago

………
Pelosi’s office blasted the plan.
“The extent of this administration’s cynicism and cruelty cannot be overstated,” said Pelosi spokeswoman Ashley Etienne. “Using human beings — including little children — as pawns in their warped game to perpetuate fear and demonize immigrants is despicable.”

……...

Cynicism?
Cruelty?
Demonization?
Despicable?
Hardly.
Illegal immigrants would be placed in an area where they are clearly most welcome and desired.
It would seem to be a win\win for all involved, wouldn't it?

Yeah. Well IMHO, this "proposal" is nothing more than another instance of trolling by Trump... This will never happen, and never was going to happen.

You are most probably right.
But it's a wonderful idea nonetheless, don't you think?
After all, why place them elsewhere, where they might not be wanted?
Where would you propose that they be placed, if not in safe havens?

Mapping San Francisco's Human Waste Challenge - 132,562 Cases Reported In The Public Way Since 2008

………

There were 118 city neighborhoods affected. However, 72-percent of all cases since 2008 were reported in just ten neighborhoods: 1. Tenderloin (30,863); 2. South of Market (23,599); 3. Mission (19,150); 4. Civic Center (6,232); 5. Mission Dolores (4,096); 6. Lower Nob Hill (3,654); 7. Potrero Hill (2,489); 8. Showplace Square (2,022); 9. North Beach (1,826); and 10. Financial District (1,810).
Thirty ZIP codes in the city were affected. However, just four locations had the highest concentration of human feces – between 10,000 and 23,000 events each.

………

In a city run by the Democrat Party, in a state run by the Democrat Party: 72% of the feces reported in 'just' ten neighborhoods.
'Only' four zip codes, out of thirty, had the highest concentration of human feces.
Sounds as if everything was very well consolidated.
A prime example of liberals getting their shit together.

New York Times beclowns itself on 'Edelweiss' too
By Monica Showalter

The New York Times has made itself famous for its religious idiocy, but that's almost piddly compared to its malevolence-tinged cultural illiteracy.
Tyler O'Neil at Pajamas Media reports this new doozy:

The latest attempt to brand Trump a Nazi has two American artists rolling over in their graves.
On Thursday, a New York Post reporter tweeted that President Donald Trump played the song "Edelweiss" at the White House.  The New York Times's White House correspondent, Maggie Haberman, suggested the song was a Nazi anthem, inspiring rightful backlash on Twitter.  She seemed to stick with this false view, even after she was called out on it.
"'Edelweiss' was being played as we walked into the [White House]," Nikki Schwab, the Post reporter, tweeted.
Flabbergasted, Haberman responded, "Does...anyone at that White House understand the significance of that song?"
Haberman repeatedly doubled down on the Nazi suggestion, even when she was being corrected, according to the piece, citing multiple tweets.  That is not surprising, given Haberman's boneheaded refusal to correct herself on her libelous Covington kids conclusions, something she's now getting sued for.
It shows a whole lot of arrogance rolling around at the Times among its "star" reporters.  This incident is worse, because it signaled malevolence.  The Left is always looking for ways to call Trump a Nazi, despite any facts.  Over at the comparably elitist New Yorker, another journalist errantly claimed that an ICE agent's military service–linked tattoo was a Nazi thing, something that got her fired and the man an apology.  And don't forget that the Left largely got away with smearing White House official Sebastian Gorka as a Nazi for his wearing a Hungarian resistance emblem to honor his father at a White House event, a lie from malevolent, ignorant boobs if there ever was one.  Nazis, Nazis, everywhere, and Haberman's blooper is just the latest incident.
It's not just the cultural illiteracy that stands out, either — it's the malevolence.  The poor ignorant reporter from the Times' Notre Dame piece, cited here, was just culturally ignorant; he wasn't hateful, and he wrote his story respectfully.  Haberman's tweets indicated no such deference, let alone a willingness to be corrected out of interest in the facts and her own credibility, as the Notre Dame reporter had been.
Nope, she just went and put her cultural illiteracy about one of the world's most watched movies, the 1965 Academy Award-winner for best picture, The Sound of Music, twisting the anthem against Nazis into a false claim that the song is pro-Nazi, possibly based on her watching of some D-level television that misconstrued the song.
And she's not backing down.  What a wretched instance of cultural failure.

Yankees and Flyers Will Stop Playing Kate Smith After Discovering Racist Songs

Associated Press
By Victor Mather
April 19, 2019

For the Yankees, Kate Smith’s version of “God Bless America” was a staple of the seventh-inning stretch since 2001.
For the Philadelphia Flyers, the connection was even tighter, with Smith serving as a mascot of sorts for the team’s 1970s Stanley Cup winners, and performing live at games.
Now both teams have announced they will stop playing Smith’s version of “God Bless America” after discovering that she sang songs with racist lyrics in the 1930s. The Flyers will also cover a statue of Smith that has been in front of their arena since 1987.
Smith, who died in 1986, is most closely identified with “God Bless America,” but recorded numerous other songs over her long career. Among them were “Pickaninny Heaven” and “That’s Why Darkies Were Born,” which contain disturbing lyrics that demean black people.

“The Yankees have been made aware of a recording that had been previously unknown to us and decided to immediately and carefully review this new information,” a team spokesman told The Daily News, which first reported the story. “The Yankees take social, racial and cultural insensitivities very seriously. And while no final conclusions have been made, we are erring on the side of sensitivity.”
The Yankees used the song early in the season, but stopped after being alerted by a fan’s email to Smith’s racially insensitive work.

The Flyers said in a statement: “We have recently become aware that several songs performed by Kate Smith contain offensive lyrics that do not reflect our values as an organization. As we continue to look into this serious matter, we are removing Kate Smith’s recording of ‘God Bless America’ from our library and covering up the statue that stands outside of our arena.”
The Flyers have a tradition of playing Smith’s version of “God Bless America” as a replacement for the national anthem at particularly big games. The song has been said to bring the team good luck. Smith performed it live before Game 6 of the 1974 Stanley Cup final, the game in which the Flyers won their first Cup.

Like many white singers of her era, Smith sang some songs that at best are dated and insensitive and at worst are downright racist.
In “Pickaninny Heaven,” Smith sings of a place where “great big watermelons roll around and get in your way.” “Pickaninny” is a demeaning term for a black child. In the 1933 film “Hello Everybody,” Smith sings the song to a group of black orphans listening on the radio.
“That’s Why Darkies Were Born” begins: “Someone had to pick the cotton,/ Someone had to pick the corn,/ Someone had to slave and be able to sing,/ That’s why darkies were born.”
The lyrics also include: “Sing, sing, sing when you’re weary and sing when you’re blue/ Sing, sing, that’s what you taught all the white folks to do.”
The song was also recorded by the black singer and civil rights activist Paul Robeson, although “one has to think that Robeson’s take on the lyrics was decidedly ironic,” wrote Steven Carl Tracy in “Hot Music, Ragmentation and the Bluing of American Literature.”

Kate Smith's Family 'Appalled' by Flyers' Decision to Remove Statue Over Racist Lyrics

Kate Smith’s family is none too pleased by the Philadelphia Flyers’ decision to cut ties with the late singer after racist lyrics she recorded in the 1930s resurfaced.
The NHL team, following in the footsteps of the New York Yankees, vowed to replace Smith’s 1939 recording of “God Bless America” as old song lyrics have been reexamined due to what appears to be racist language and stereotypes.
The Flyers took their course correction one step further Sunday, as they removed a statue of Smith outside the XFINITY Live! arena that was erected after her death in 1986.

……...

CBS Philadelphia reports that the statue was initially covered with a black drape before it was fully removed.

Leader of militia at US border boasted of training to kill Obama – FBI

Quote :
The leader of an armed group that is stopping undocumented migrants who cross into the US from Mexico once boasted about training to assassinate Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and George Soros, an FBI agent said in court papers on Monday.

Larry Mitchell Hopkins, leader of the United Constitutional Patriots (UCP), whose camouflage-wearing armed members claim to have helped US officials detain some 5,600 migrants in New Mexico’s desert in the last 60 days, was arrested on Friday on a weapons charge.

. . .

Critics including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) accuse the UCP of being vigilantes who illegally detain and kidnap migrants by impersonating law enforcement.

We'll likely 'never see a more godly' president than Trump, Michele Bachmann says

Quote :
Michele Bachmann has long been an outspoken proponent of Christian values in American life.

Now the former congresswoman from Minnesota believes those values have no greater champion than President Donald Trump.

Bachmann, who was a Republican presidential candidate in 2012, said during an interview Saturday that "Donald Trump has had the courage and the fortitude" to stand up "where other Republicans wouldn't dare to stand up."

"He is highly biblical, and I would say to your listeners, we will in all likelihood never see a more godly, biblical president again in our lifetime," she said on the Olive Tree Ministries' radio show "Understanding the Times."

Groundbreaking Honors Paul Robeson's Legacy as Civil Rights Activist, Rutgers Scholar
University breaks ground on Robeson Plaza to celebrate 100 years since Robeson’s 1919 graduation

By Neal Buccino
September 5, 2018

Paul Robeson, Rutgers University’s most acclaimed alumnus, distinguished himself as a scholar, athlete and artist – but lived most deeply as an activist for civil rights and social justice.
On Wednesday the university broke ground on the future Paul Robeson Plaza, which will open in April as part of a yearlong centennial celebration of Robeson’s 1919 graduation. The plaza was conceived of and championed by the Class of 1971 for its 45th anniversary, with strong support from the Rutgers African-American Alumni Alliance.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Rutgers University–New Brunswick interim chancellor Christopher J. Molloy noted that when he joined the university as a freshman in 1972, students knew Robeson as “a living legend who had no equal in accomplishment or authenticity as a Rutgers alum.”
Rutgers’ third African-American student and first football player, Robeson often found that success brought hardship and responsibility, but he continually created new opportunities to speak up for the rights of others, Molloy said.
Molloy noted that the Robeson Centennial will begin in January as “a year-long celebration of Robeson’s achievement as a scholar, athlete, actor, singer and global activist” and will honor the civil rights leader by “weaving his vision into the fabric of our campus and community in ways that will echo and endure.”
President Robert Barchi said the future plaza will be “part of the crossroads of the university, part of the center of the university,” particularly following changes in the coming years that will establish it as an anchor of green space adjacent to the Voorhees Mall on the College Avenue campus of Rutgers-New Brunswick.
The son of a runaway slave, Robeson attended Rutgers College in New Brunswick on an academic scholarship.  An extraordinary athlete, he won 12 varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball and track. He was a two-time All-American in football who is in the College Football Hall of Fame. His scholarly accomplishments include being inducted to the Phi Beta Kappa Society and Rutgers’ Cap & Skull Society. Fluent in many languages, he honed his oratory skills as a member of the Intercollegiate Debating Association. He delivered the commencement address to his graduating class.
After graduation, Robeson earned a law degree from Columbia Law School but decided to use his artistic talents in theater and music to promote African and African-American history and culture. Over nearly four decades, he achieved worldwide acclaim as a vocalist and actor on stage and screen. A towering figure in the African-American struggle for human dignity and democratic rights, Robeson connected that struggle with those of people around the world who were fighting for political rights, cultural recognition and economic justice.
Robeson’s granddaughter, Susan Robeson, was unable to attend Wednesday’s ceremony but provided remarks read by Felicia McGinty, Rutgers–New Brunswick’s executive vice chancellor of administration and alanning. She said she hopes the Robeson Plaza will “shepherd generations of students to become global citizens who transcend boundaries and engage with the issues of peace and social justice in every corner of the globe.”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/paul-robeson-was-an-unrepentant-stalinist-rutgers-should-acknowledge-that/2019/02/19/b757628a-347b-11e9-af5b-b51b7ff322e9_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.ebc8c4eec3dc

Paul Robeson was an unrepentant Stalinist. Rutgers should acknowledge that.

By James Kirchick
February 19

Paul Robeson led an extraordinary life. The son of a runaway slave, he was just the third African American to study at Rutgers University, where he was both an All-American football player and valedictorian. After earning a law degree at Columbia University, he became one of the most popular entertainers in the world, his stirring baritone illuminating Broadway musicals and Shakespearean dramas alike. He was reputed to speak a dozen languages.
Robeson was also, to his dying day, an unrepentant Stalinist.
That fact has been scrupulously avoided by Rutgers as it marks the centenary of his 1919 graduation, a year-long celebration that includes a series of lectures and the renaming of a campus plaza in Robeson’s honor.
The online material promoting the Rutgers festivities includes a biographical article titled “Paul Robeson: Renaissance Man Who Found Injustice.” Artist Nell Irvin Painter, who contributed a portrait for an exhibition commissioned by the university, describes Robeson as a “global activist,” saying, “His unwavering integrity and faith in his efforts is something that I think all artists, and people in general, should value and practice.” A Rutgers news release says that Robeson “joined the chorus of socialists and progressives who were fighting for causes of justice and equality” and that “his activism eventually cost him his livelihood.”

It is true that the U.S. government, out of a combination of racist and anti-communist paranoia, treated Robeson unjustly. The FBI spied on him. His name was stricken from the All-American sports records. His passport was revoked, and he was blacklisted and, unable to perform, forced into penury. He died a broken man. But this only tells part of Robeson’s complicated story.
Like many Americans who visited the Soviet Union in the 1930s, Robeson was entranced by what he saw. That his own country treated black men such as him so abysmally made the superficial equality of the communist system even more alluring. Yet his understandable anger at the United States blinded him to the many injustices of Joseph Stalin’s regime. Asked in an interview with the Daily Worker in 1935 about the execution of “counter-revolutionary terrorists,” Robeson called the policy “justice” and said: “From what I have already seen of the workings of the Soviet Government, I can only say that anybody who lifts his hand against it ought to be shot! It is the government’s duty to put down opposition to this really free society with a firm hand.”
Robeson’s opposition to Western imperialism in Africa blinded him to Soviet imperialism in Eastern Europe. In 1949, as the Soviets were erecting their Iron Curtain across the continent, Robeson delivered a speech to the National Council of American-Soviet Friendship in New York. “The Soviet Union is the friend of the African and the West Indian peoples,” he declared. Perhaps. But it was undoubtedly the enemy of the peoples of Eastern Europe.

For his services to the cause of international communism, Robeson won the Stalin Peace Prize in 1952. Several months later, after Stalin died unexpectedly, Robeson delivered a eulogy praising the  “deep humanity,” “wise understanding” and “rich and monumental heritage” of the recently departed mass murderer. “Glory to Stalin,” Robeson said. “Forever will his name be honored and beloved in all lands.” For decades, until his death in 1976, Robeson remained an unwavering apologist for the Soviet dictator and the communist cause. Nothing in the ensuing Soviet catalogue of horrors — Nikita Khrushchev’s “secret speech” exposing the litany of Stalinist crimes, the invasions of Hungary and Czechoslovakia, revelations about the gulags — appeared to dampen his admiration.
Robeson had every reason to feel disillusioned about America. But plenty of African American civil rights leaders, no matter how justifiably outraged at the actions of their country, refrained from glorifying foreign despotisms far worse in their treatment of national minorities, as was the Soviet Union.
“It is personally painful to me to realize that so gifted and forceful a man as Robeson should have been tricked by his own bitterness and by a total inability to understand the nature of political power in general, or Communist aims in particular, into missing the point of his own critique,” wrote James Baldwin in 1948.
A brave and eloquent advocate for his own people in the United States, Robeson was simultaneously a defender of the oppression of others abroad, thereby making a mockery of the “universal humanity” for which Rutgers lauds him. The closest the university comes to acknowledging Robeson’s unapologetic Stalinism is to say he was “branded a Communist sympathizer.”
Paul Robeson was a complex man. But so were Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Jefferson and many of the other figures in U.S. history whose veneration by colleges and universities we are now (rightly and belatedly) being asked to reappraise in light of their racism, sexism and other manifold human faults. If Robeson is going to be honored — as he absolutely should be — then we ought to honor him forthrightly.

World War II

Smith "stirred patriotic fervor" during World War II and contributed to selling over $600 million (equivalent to $10.2 billion in 2018) of war bonds during a series of marathon broadcasts. No other show-business star came near her as revenue producer of War Bonds to finance the United States' war effort.

Paul Robeson recorded a song titled That's Why Darkies Were Born.
Kate Smith recorded a song titled That's Why Darkies Were Born.
Paul Robeson was an unrepentant apologist for Stalin, a man estimated to be responsible for 20 million deaths, if not more.
Kate Smith made major contributions in helping to sell an estimated 600 million dollars in war bonds during World War II.
Paul Robeson is having a monument built in his honor.
Kate Smith just had a monument in her honor torn down.
How seriously fucked up are you people?

The Duggars renamed their deviled eggs as 'Yellow Pocket Angel Eggs'

Not today, Satan! Apparently, there will be no deviled eggs served at the Duggar household.

The ever-expanding devout Christian family from TLC's hit reality series "19 Kids and Counting" (and its multiple spin-offs) recently sparked a debate online with an Instagram post in which they refered to deviled eggs as "Yellow Pocket Angel Eggs."

Republican lawmaker and ally urged crowd to prepare for civil unrest

Quote :
Washington state Republican representative Matt Shea and several associates regaled an audience with conspiracy theories, separatist visions and exhortations for listeners to arm themselves ahead of a looming civil war, at a gathering at a remote religious compound in the north-east of the state last year.

In recordings obtained by the Guardian, Shea and Jack Robertson, also known as radio personality John Jacob Schmidt, invoked their visions and fears of a violent leftist revolt in speeches at the 2018 God and Country event in Marble.

The Guardian last week published leaked chat records in which Shea and Robertson were revealed to have discussed the use of surveillance, “psyops” and violence against liberal and leftist activists.

Robertson – who aired fantasies of extreme violence against liberal activists in the leaked chats – told the audience at the 2018 event that they should be prepared for civil war.

In his speech at God and Country last June, which immediately followed Shea’s speech, Robertson said: “Of course, you all know that you should have an AR-15 and a thousand rounds of ammo, right? Because Antifa is kicking up and getting ready to defend, right?”

Shea’s speech flirted with themes of civil war, but mostly focused on the idea of separating eastern Washington out into a separate political entity, with the view of having “an entire geographic area repent”.

He began by proposing “a simple idea that may make you cringe a little at first. And that idea is that liberty must be kept by force.”

Shea said the reason America was no longer a “beacon of Christianity”, was “because of compromise. And it’s not knowing that the communists are training, they’re planning, they’re organizing and they are lying in wait.”

He added: “If you don’t believe that, then you don’t understand what is really wrong with America.”

The Left’s Obsession with Race

Derek Hunter

Posted: May 12, 2019 12:01 AM

There was a time when people aspired to a world where race was an afterthought. It was always a tough slog, but we’d moved closer and closer over time. Then something funny happened – a political party realized they could benefit from division and that unity was bad for business. Unity would require a debate on issues and their merits, which was one they had been losing, so they opted for backsliding; divide to conquer.
If you divide people into groups it is much easier to win. Groups of people are easier to manipulate than millions of individuals. It is easier to win especially when you’ve been inundating them with the idea that there are “others” actively working against them as well as a system completely rigged to crush them. These ideas coupled with the elevation and fetishization of victimhood in the culture and you’ve created the perfect petri dish for the progressive agenda.
The left needs to foster division, and the anger and fear that accompanies it, because a fearful and angry people don’t think rationally. A fearful and angry people can have that fear and anger pointed toward those they’re told to be fearful of and angry at.
We’ve all seen and hear the “us vs. them” politics of the left, especially the last few years. Rich vs. poor, straight vs. gay, urban vs. rural, etc. But their favorite, and most effective, tool is race – the hyphen has been fully weaponized.
Skipping the larger, more obvious declarations about putting “y’all back in chains” and the like, this mentality has permeated every level of thinking on the left. And since it is metastasizing throughout the left, it has infected the culture.
TV shows and movies about how awful and racist the country is rack up awards, if not audience members.
But the latest example is the most absurd, at least so far.
This week a baby was born. A “royal baby,” if you’re into that sort of thing. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan welcomed a baby boy whose name is irrelevant and not worth Googling (it’s something very British). Whatever the name, surely most people wish him well and, unless you’re British, never really think about him again. Let the kid be as much of a kid as anyone cursed with the luck of being born into the royal family in the modern era can be.
But in the “woke world,” everything is an opportunity, everything is available for exploitation, if it helps the cause – from family tragedies to school shootings before a motive is known or there’s an accurate body count – so why should a baby’s birth be any different?
Before his umbilical cord has even fallen off, leftists were projecting their agenda onto him because his mother happens to have a black mother. “Will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry raise their baby to be black?” the Los Angeles Times wondered.
CNN’s “analysis” of the birth was titled, “Don’t use the royal birth to trot out a dangerous myth.” What “dangerous myth” were they warning the world about? “Let's not turn this child into another ‘Great Mixed-Race Hope,’” the piece declared. I’ll take a moment to remind you that this child was just born and still in the hospital when these “news” organizations decided the world needed to know these deep thoughts.
“We've seen this story before. A mixed-race person is elevated to a position of prominence. They're touted as proof of racial progress,” CNN’s column continued, “part of a Brown New World in which racism will inevitably collapse in the future because there will be so many interracial relationships. This anointing is part of what some call the ongoing "fetishization" of interracial children and adults.” Again, it is a baby.
The CNN article went on to ask, “How black will the royal baby be?” Not kidding.
That’s just a taste of the obsessive/compulsive (Pavlovian really) reaction to an opportunity to exploit anything remotely tied to race. It’s a sickness, but what’s worse there is a large swath of the country who think this is good, that it’s important.
The most quoted like from Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech is, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” It’s a beautiful dream we’ve not only stopped moving towards, Democrats have slammed the car in reverse. To win elections they’re willing to damage the country by engaging in exactly what they tell people they’re fighting. That saddest part is it works.

Commentary: The problem with the Rolling Stones' 'Brown Sugar'

Ian Brennan

Imagine everyone in a sold-out stadium singing along joyfully to a tune glorifying slavery, rape, torture and pedophilia, with the entire chorus led by a hyper-gesticulating 75-year-old white male, centimillionaire. It sounds like something out of a dystopian horror film or a tale of 19th century-era evil.
Sadly, this spectacle is coming to a major city near you — right here in our post-“Get Out” world and with audiences around the globe paying princely sums to participate in the privilege.
The violence and stereotypes depicted by the lyrics of the Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar” are repulsive, yet the song continues to be broadcast without a peep by radio stations around the world and is blasted in cafes, airports, gyms, shopping centers and the ilk, even now well into the #MeToo and #TimesUp era.
Clearly, if the song’s same words were recited publicly, they would incite outrage. Twitter would run amok, friendships would fray, careers would capsize, swallowed whole by waves of shame. Somehow though, when set to music, the words are ignored. This is largely due to pop music being routinely dismissed as a triviality — a belittlement that belies pop culture’s pervasiveness, and thereby the danger of its often hidden or mixed messages.
After an interruption so that lead singer Mick Jagger could deal with a health issue, the Rolling Stones will resume their international “No Filter” stadium tour June 21 at Soldier Field. “Brown Sugar,” far from some obscure B-side, is sure to be on the setlist. From the “Sticky Fingers” album, it was a No. 1 Billboard hit in 1971 that the band has continued to perform and repeatedly bring to life on stage.
Instead of being held to a higher standard as their stature should demand, those with celebrity and power are too often given a pass. A teenage barista would likely be fired for daring speak the line, “Brown Sugar, how come you taste so good? Brown Sugar, just like a young girl should,” to a customer or colleague. Yet, the Stones have brazenly gotten away with this jeering harassment for decades.
This is not a call for censorship or curtailing of artistic speech, but a plea for superstars to accept at least a fraction of accountability for their words as the rest of us.
With compassion and respect for Jagger’s health scare, his brush with mortality could not provide a more fitting moment for the band to acknowledge its error in judgment and retire the song permanently — as a voluntary effort to heal and educate their audience.
The issue today is not that they ever wrote the song. Nor that they have ever sung it. The fault is that they keep singing it.
For anyone remaining an apologist for “the greatest rock ’n’ roll band in the world,” I challenge you to speak the lyrics to “Brown Sugar” in its entirety aloud and irony-free before a diverse group of strangers.
Go ahead, I dare you.

Yes, Ian - I agree that they should retire the song.
How about they do it right after you go fuck yourself?

Here's what you need to know about the bizarre lawsuit between Oberlin College and a local bakery
The school was accused of defaming a local bakery over a shoplifting incident in 2016

I don't see anything even remotely "bizarre" about this case.
A bunch of Leftist whiners tried to use 'social justice' to ruin the lives of a family that was merely trying to make a living, and their vile efforts were aided and abetted by the Leftists who inhabit the university.
End story, begin lawsuit.
Bravo, and I hope the entire settlement stands.

Metal drinking straw caused death of woman impaled through eye

By Alex Winter

A RETIRED jockey died when she fell onto an eco-friendly metal drinking straw which impaled her eye, an inquest heard.
Elena Struthers-Gardner, 60, who was known as ‘Lena’, suffered brain injuries in the accident at her home in Broadstone.
She was carrying a mason-jar style drinking glass with a screw-top lid in her kitchen when she collapsed. The 10-inch stainless steel straw entered her left eye socket and pierced her brain.
Her death has led to a coroner warning that metal drinking straws should never be used with a lid that fixes them in place, and “great care should be taken” while using them.

Metal straws have increased in popularity to replace single-use plastic straws since the screening of David Attenborough’s Blue Planet.
Mrs Struthers-Gardner was fatally injured at her home in Cannon Close on the evening of November 22 last year.
In a statement read out by the coroner, her wife of four years Mandy Struthers-Gardner said she hadn’t heard the fall, but found Mrs Struthers-Gardner lying on her front and making “unusual gurgling sounds”.

When she turned Mrs Struthers-Gardner over, she realised the straw had gone through her eye.
“I did not hear her fall.
“I went to the kitchen door and could see Lena lying on her front at the doorway between the den and the kitchen.
“She was making unusual gurgling sounds.
“Her glass cup was lying on the floor still intact and the straw was still in the jar.
“I noticed the straw was sticking into her head. I called 999 and requested an ambulance.

Hey!!!!
Let's ban guns!!!!

Louisiana restaurant apologizes for 'racist' dress code after swift backlash on social media

Lemme get this straight.
A place of business sets standards for its clientele, asking them to:

A: Not advertise gang affiliation.
B: To be decently groomed.
C: To not treat the staff with abusive, unsafe, hostile, and rude behavior.

It seems to me that, you, the person who is claiming that these conditions are "racist", are indicating that you possess all of these stellar qualities.
This establishment has nothing to apologize for - I wouldn't want you in my house either.
They have standards, and so do I.

Robot racism? Yes, says a study showing humans' biases extend to robots

By Caroline Klein and David Allan, CNN

(CNN)Have you ever noticed the popularity of white robots?
You see them in films like Will Smith's "I, Robot" and Eve from "Wall-E." Real-life examples include Honda's Asimo, UBTECH's Walker, Boston Dynamics' Atlas, and even NASA's Valkyrie robot. All made of shiny white material. And some real-life humanoid robots are modeled after white celebrities, such as Audrey Hepburn and Scarlett Johansson.
The reason for these shades of technological white may be racism, according to new research.

……...

What the fuck is next?
People are racist because they prefer white clouds to dark clouds?
