Nobody ever claimed that fixing the mess that Bush and the Republicans left us would be easy.

It surprises me that it's conservatives who really thought Obama was the Messiah. It's the only reason that explains why they're so surprised such a mess wasn't fixed overnight.

Nine months and $2 Trillion is HARDLY overnight... It is when you figure in that it took Bush 8 years to create the mess.

Would [insert your choice politician here] have done better? Given the magnitude of our situation, I'd say anything less that complete meltdown ain't doing so bad.

Nine months and $2 Trillion is HARDLY overnight... It is when you figure in that it took Bush 8 years to create the mess. You're absolutely right. How quickly they forget. So at what point does Nobama take responsibility for their mess? Certainly not with the current budget, which is actually Bush's last budget. Obama inherited a budget deficit this year of 1.3 trillion. Arguably, the only portion of the current year's deficit that "belongs" to Obama administration is the 700+ billion added by the stimulus package. So your 2 trillion dollar figure is really bogus. Obama's first budget hasn't even been submitted at this point. But even when it is, nobody can rationally expect him to fix this sorry mess overnight. It's going to take a few years. I think that the best we can expect is a modest improvement in the annual deficit by the end of Obama's first term. In any case, we can't expect Obama to "take responsibility for their mess." By definition, it's not his... he didn't create it. Our President simply has the unenviable, and so far, thankless, task of doing his best to make things better.
