for accepting the ire of your fellow republican mitch daniels and taking the heat off of lake county for the rest of this general assembly session. your council's actions today and thursday will ensure that you are now the least likely of any indiana county to recieve any aid from the state legislature and also ensure that you will be tied up in the judicial system for years to come while it figures out exactly how much money you owe your fellow counties to the east and west of you. wont it be ironic when the judiciary forces you to enact an income tax to pay back the casino money to the other counties that you already spent?

oh.,...and also thanks for helping to ensure a democrat will be the next governor of the state of indiana.

As far as the casino money, guess what, the EVERY county gets money, and that was the way it was written into the law to allow those boats

Don't blame Porter County for being smart enough to see a money drain and want out before they are no longer allowed to get out like Dobis wants


I wouldn't be so sure on the D winning the Governorship either, because right now, its the D's keeping the property tax caps from being voted on in 2010. Why would the D's want that to be held off, when most of the state wants it to be passed? Oh yeah, tax and spend and make no cuts thats why

sorry (for you) to say mike its the rda who now has them by the screws. by state law the .025% of portages income taxes are earmarked for the rda. the local authorities do not have the ability to change that, as long as the tax is collected.

they do have the authority...and did...to pull their representation out of the rda board. very well, porter county will no longer have input into how that money is spent. but the money will keep flowing...just that none of it will run off into porter county anymore.

thats all well in good. im certain lake, and laporte countys will put your money to good use! heck, we may even allow valpo to continue their bus service a little while longer.
