- Jurors award plaintiff $275,000 in civil case
A Lake Superior Court jury on Thursday awarded Mererdo Villarreal a $275,000 verdict in a civil case against Flat Rock Tap Inc.
Details of the case were not available Thursday afternoon. Anyone know more of the details about this case? It's a shame to see that someone invested quite a bit of money to renovate that location and had to pay out this kind of money.

| Well if it was civil case, I would not be surprised to find out the guy was "escorted" out a little more roughly than the law allows |

If that is the case, it sounds like a good day's work to me!

If that is the case, it sounds like a good day's work to me! No its not Under the law, a bouncer is not allowed to get physical unless the person is physical first, but then the bouncer may not just beat the hell out of the patron either I have testified in court cases where the boincer went overboards in tossing someone out. And each time, the bar was found liable, because the bouncer went overboard Just like police officers are not just allowed to beat the crap out of people just because they resisted, once the person is subdued, they are not allowed to keep wailing on them either |

East Chicago must be exempt from this law. Ask the family of the diabetic man who the E.C. cops beat to death. |

East Chicago must be exempt from this law. Ask the family of the diabetic man who the E.C. cops beat to death. Well NWI is exempt from the real laws Tiger |

| Shady dealings going on in Flat Rock. I wouldn't want to get caught up in that mess. Wrong kind of crowd if you know what I mean. | |

Sort of like that place on Kennedy Avenue, Sparks????
Now, it's a "Shame"?
By the way, how does that Kenny May's place on Calumet Avenue make near enough to even cover its tax base?
I can't imagine why anyone would want to be in the bartender/liquor business today, when cops are sitting outside waiting to arrest you for drinking and driving.
What better way than to make money for the city?
As far as FLAT ROCK, I was told it is patronized by politicians or wanna-be-politicians, anyway.
Ya gotta be nuts to visit a bar now days.

Repay? Thought there is something going on there if you are talking about Flat Rock. Take a drive in the middle of the day...and note the license plates. Not out of IL...political license plates. But, how does Kenny May's stay in business? Are we on the same page about the same place? If not, how does Kenny Mays stay in business especially after being blind sided by under cover cops where the dancers don't dance, and whats with all the machinery parked there? Big bulldozers, etc. More like a parking lot for something than a bar. I can bet you he has no patrons to support that business and something else is going on. No bar can survive with no cars outside. Always advertising for help. Same old sign...help wanted. Has to be political connected to survive that businesses when you see no patrons in or out. What gives?

| The building looks like it belongs in Black Oak. They need to tear down Kenny Mays and Flatrock. Crime would decrease in that area if they did. | |

But, hardly ever see anyone patronizing Kenny Mays.
So, how does that guy stay in business? Something like a money laundering place for some odd thing going on?????
I do see a lot of construction (i.e., backhoes, etc) equipment parked on the north side of the lot. Just wondering how the guy who owns the place makes enough to even pay the taxes.

| Flatrock is on the corner of Calumet and Cherry I believe. It is one block south of Anchor Inn, another bar on the street. Anchor is the one closer to Kenny Mays. | |

| What was it about Flat Rock when a car crashed...and later FT was saying that's where the politicians hang out...something that was brought up by FT that gave me the impression that Flat Rock was the place the city hall guys go to.
So, is it the Team Hammond Hangout???? LOL Just curious.
