Favorite Wingnut Fairy Tale "2016: Obama’s America" Gets Destroyed by Bill Maher

I'm sure most of you are aware that the wingnut crowd has been jerking off non-stop since this opinion piece trash,disguised as a documentary, hit the theaters recently. Hmmm..just found out that this piece of garbage was partially financed by Cubs Owner Joe Ricketts. Bill Maher had the guy who stars and co-directed it on his show last night and carved him up like a Christmas goose.

Bill Maher Takes Apart Dinesh D’Souza Over His Fearmongering Film
Author and fearmongering filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza appeared on this Friday evening's Real Time with Bill Maher and had his latest film, 2016: Obama’s America, and the justifications for his depiction of President Obama taken apart one by one by Maher.

Whether it was D'Souza pretending that President Obama didn't reach out to Republicans on their health care bill, when as Maher rightfully pointed out, it was Bob Dole's plan from the '90's, trying to blame the President for the gridlock in Washington rather than Republican obstruction designed to make sure President Obama is not reelected, to pretending that President Obama did anything much differently than other presidents when it came to stimulus, regulating industry or that he's somehow anti-capitalist, D'Souza just was no match for Maher.

Maher did a pretty good job with D'Souza if he's going to allow someone like him who traffics in lies on his show in the first place. I still think the most brutal interview I've seen with him was Cenk Uygur from earlier this month which you can watch here -- Cenk Uygur Destroys Anti-Obama Author Dinesh D’Souza.

It interesting how much hatred conservatives have for Michael Moore at the same time they quickly embrace his conservative counterpart. And wow... that bit at the end was hilarious.

That explains why junior later went on to fulfill the dream of all Kenyan revolutionaries of the 1960s: passing the health care plan Republicans came up with in the '90s.

Still, the film is a sleepy dud, a polemic that, like D'Souza himself, is at once both outrageous and deeply boring. Mostly well shot, it makes Michael Moore's films look cheap by comparison, but Moore at least dares some adversarial interviews, and he bothers to chart a connection between government policy, corporate decision making, and the lives of actual people.

Dinesh D’Souza Resigns Presidency of The King’s College

After a marathon meeting to decide his fate, the board of trustees of The King’s College, a small evangelical school based in Manhattan, announced Thursday that conservative author Dinesh D’Souza had resigned as president. Former president and current chairman Andy Mills, who made the announcement to faculty and staff, will return as interim president for a third time.

"God has a mighty future for Dinesh, but there are some things he has to go through first," Mills said after breaking the news to King's students Thursday afternoon. "I have to admit, I got a bit over-enamored with him." Mills assured students that most of the college's funding and scholarships come from board members, not from D'Souza's connections.

D’Souza came under fire Tuesday when World magazine revealed that he was engaged to a 29-year-old woman while still married to his wife of 20 years. D’Souza and Denise Odie Joseph allegedly shared a hotel room at a Christian conference in September, and D’Souza introduced her as his fiancee.

It was not immediately clear whether the board’s decision was driven by the allegations of the affair, or by dissatisfaction with D’Souza’s leadership that had been building at the college for months. At the meeting Thursday, Mills did not give details of the board's conversation about D’Souza or give reasons for his departure. Representatives for the college did not respond to requests for comment.

Last night in response on his HBO show Maher ripped him a new one and it's hilarious...

The only thing Trump will have ended up accomplishing is helping to spike Maher's HBO ratings once this video gets picked up by the media

Dinesh D'Souza pleads guilty to campaign finance fraud, may receive jail time

A very strange political scandal that burbled out of a very obscure race looks like it'll end in jail time for the perpetrator. Conservative writer Dinesh D'Souza has pleaded guilty to charges that he asked two associates to donate $10,000 to the Senate campaign of New York Republican Wendy Long, then illegally reimbursed them. D'Souza has also agreed not to contest any prison term between 10 and 16 months, though he won't be sentenced until Sept. 23, and it sounds like he's still hoping to avoid jail time:

   His attorney, Benjamin Brafman, said in a statement immediately after the plea that he was hopeful that the judge "will recognize Mr. D'Souza to be a fundamentally honorable man who should not be imprisoned for what was an isolated instance of wrongdoing in an otherwise productive life."

Oh yeah, buddy.

What made this whole thing so bizarre, though, was that Long had absolutely no chance of defeating Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who demolished her by a 72-26 margin. So of all the elections to do something this stupid for, this was the stupidest. (Long was apparently a college bud of D'Souza's, back in his infamous Dartmouth Review days. Blech.) And in this day and age, if you want to circumvent campaign finance limits, that's why the Supreme Court invented Citizens United, so this just makes D'Souza even dumber—and that's pretty remarkable.

One thing we still don't know, though, is who dropped the dime on D'Souza. It's possible it was his estranged wife, Dixie, who rather oddly also donated to Long but wasn't named by prosecutors as one of D'Souza's straw donors. (However, Denise Joseph, the woman he left his wife for, was.) We may never find out, but if D'Souza doesn't already know himself, it looks like he'll have plenty of time to contemplate it.
