PostSubject: Why Can't Our Gov't See THEY Are The Problem?   Why Can't Our Gov't See THEY Are The Problem? Empty1/25/2011, 12:28 pm

I haven't kept up with the news lately. I do have questions. I would like to have someone to explain to me and others, why our USA is no longer the great old, "USA".

What went wrong since WWII? Our nation was bustling with manufacturing. People were emerging from the Depression.

We were a proud nation. We herald above the rest of the world.

What went wrong?

Today, we are told where to smoke, when to smoke, where to smoke, when to drink, when or where to talk on the phone, where to gamble, not to gamble, hot-lines all over the place...do this, can't do that, and .....

Now, you are not allowed to walk with earphones.

When does it stop? Where does it stop? Do I have to really move in the woods in MO to get my freedom back?

It just seems more and more like we are becoming a Communist country.

Whatever happened to "Common Sense"?

Back in the '50s through the year 1998, we never heard of the gov't intruding on our rights.

People never complained about smoke.

People never complained about shit.

I say, it's a cover-up. I don't like the politicians - no, I don't like the CAREER POLITICIANS, like the idiot that died at 93 in Washington, D.C.

What life did he have to enjoy? Leaving money and whatever? Stupid.

The window to answering our political problems is so obvious, that a darn fifth grader could run the country better. A team of them.

The brightest of all in this nation. I would love to see a politician blush....

Everything my father, my uncles, my bro's fought for - was for FREEDOM.

Why are we so spending so many billions on a war that's non of our business? They want us out. Don't feed me that they could attack here. They are, already.

Why shed more blood for religious, oil-greedy nations that depend on us to come in there to fight for religious freedom or oil?

We have our religious freedoms...let them kill each other if that's what they want.

Why do we send the damn billions every week when my dad, for example, holds a private insurance policy, has medicare, but was denied a "sliding board" to allow him to slide from the bed to the wheel chair.

He was denied. He pays over $600.00 a month. Yet, all that money for all those years....he gets denied a sliding board that costs $255.00.

So, we should allow him to rot in bed, right?

If the politicians could only see what they are doing to those who fought for their rights...and how they are suffering in their last phase in life...but it's always about them.

Why isn't it enough to just have term limits, allow the fresh kids from college that know the latest in...stop the spending overseas. Use common sense.

Quit the bloating of gov't. There won't be anyone left to support you politicians.

I have discussed this with my family. If anything happens to my dad...off we go to a tropical island (won't tell you where) - but taxes are a "NOT!" and the living is a dream.

We will leave the USA.

Don't you think some things have improved in the last 50 years? I'm glad someone tells smokers they can't smoke around my food.

Karen, "Common Sense, Respect..."

I smoke, but refuse to disrespect even in restaurants that allow it.

I went to the casino in the past and always respected the person, and asked if it was ok. If it wasn't, I refrained.

Common sense.

I don't need a law to tell me to use common sense. Courtesy, or respectfulness.

If I go into a restaurant, it's to eat; not smoke. I only have a jive with laws enforcing places where you can "expect" smoke.

Telling bars, liquour stores, gambling places, Vet Halls, etc., what to do with their private businesses when they know the majority smoke and business would go down.

I don't go in bars. I haven't been in a casino but one time in three or four years...never smelled smoke.

How far does gov't go? They want the money, but want to dwindle the business and put us, those of us that don't patronize places where booze, gambling, cig smoking go hand in hand.

The end result is a gov't telling you that put up the capital to get into business wanting your tax money, but wanting to tell you how to run it.

It's North Korea here.

All it takes is common sense, courtesy, and no laws.

If you find people smoking in a restaurant and it bothers you, do like I do..get up and tell them.

I don't need gov't to tell me where to patronize.

That's my point.

The "guys" go to bars...whores dance at bars..let them have it along with the tax revenue.

Hardly a restaurant to find now'a'days that doesn't say, "Smoke FREE".

Even without Charlie Brown, the faggot making it look like he's doing some work for his money.

Almost all the restaurants I encountered in Indiana are already smoke free.

Even if they are not, I don't see but maybe one or two smoking that doesn't affect me.

Bars, gambling boats, VFW Halls, who goes there?

Smokers.

I smoke, and don't go there. I don't even smoke that much. When I go out to eat, it's to eat. I don't smoke inside even if it is allowed.

The other places are revenue-generated places that such as bars and boats, and should be exempt, or you will see Indiana as Illinois.

I had an interesting conversation with a guy, Mike at Nick's yesterday, picking up my wine...

He said if they opened up that blue law, gas stations would sell, blah, blah, blah.

I told him, people don't want to pay high prices at a "gas station".

He's still against opening up on Sundays.."it would be a revenue loss for us."

Told him to take a hike across the state-line on any given closing date, and note the long lines and Indiana license plates, the line outside the liquour stores wrap around the building(s).

So they think people will pay more across the street if some gas station gets to sell beer, wine?

How stupid are they?

People don't go to a gas station and pay three times more if a liquour store is open across the street. The gas stations don't even hold up against the selection.

A fart-blossom I couldn't get my point across to. Set in his old ways. Thinking it wouldn't pay.

Hey, a couple cases of beer, a couple of expensive shitz I saw and see people buying would sustain the payroll all week if they opened up on Sundays.

You can't argue with a "career" liquour employee. So stupid, such as the law on smoking.

"This is a SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS" of such and such HOSPItal....GUESS THE NURSES REALLY CARE.

It's b.s. The doctors were even outside smoking...the nurses in Michigan. The law is a bunch of shitz.

What ever happened to common sense and courtesy?

We need gov't to tell us how to behave?

Get up and walk over to the table and embarrase the son of a guns and tell mgt. to do it if you don't have the guts.

It's like a table next to you - they get drunk, obnoxious, what, you need gov't to tell you not to do what you can do for yourself?

Why do you need laws to tell you not to get up and confront management to approach the inconsiderate a-holes?

You have common sense, which makes you special. You wouldn't believe the parents who tell us how bad their kid's asthma is, but the whole family reeks of smoke. Personally, I wouldn't confront someone whose smoke (or any behavior) was bothering me. I would tell management; and if that didn't work, I would move.

Aw, Karen, you sound so much like my sister-in-law, I swear you two are related.

You two should get together.

You both have the same type of personality.

I bombard where if I feel something is wrong, I go bombard'em.

My own mom is astonished. Well, was.

In the hospital, she wanted once in life-time french fries. I believe the last time she ate them was twenty years ago.

But, she didn't trust them under the beams. I told her to go pick out her salad bar...I was gonna pick up "just fried" french fries.

The guy said, "No problem" when I asked if he could make a new batch.

Then the water. She thought she had to buy a bottle of water....I knew for a fact that soda fountains had water and ice. Filled up two sixteen ounces, put a sluggy willy straw in them...by the time she got to the register, I paid for everything but her damn salad bar.

The bill for her was $1.50. She was so overwhelmed from my dad, gave the cashier her two bucks, and it was like a scene out of "Golden Girls". She took this glass dish by the register and dumped the change in her purse.

"MOM, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?" This, after she grabbed the bowl...and she was so embarrassed. I threw three bucks in...my bro thru 3 bucks in and all it was was a "take a penny, leave a penny". But in this case, it was full of quarters, dimes and nickles.

I then went and got a bunch of crap for my dad. Chapstick, lotion for his feet. Vitamin E for the face...saw him slipping down continuosly (gravity) where his feet were locked against the bed board.

I approached the nurses. I want a pillow at his feet. I want his teeth brushed everyday, twice a day, though he doesn't eat orally.

I want the temperature on 80 degrees and quit with it...he thinks he's cold...let the guy think he's cold..you guys go loose some weight and "get cold".

I want the door open if he says he wants it open. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Wipe his damn eyelids off and mouth. On and on I went until my dad threw me out.

"Aw, go home..bad enough they wake me up three times a night..you'll just keep me up all night bitchin'!

Point is, Karen, I don't take shit from anyone. I know what is best for me, my dad or whomever I am friends with. Especially family.

I say what I want to say. I don't need the gov't telling me that my dad isn't entitled to this or that...especially a "slide board" that would enable him to get in the wheel chair and go to the bathroom.

That's where things suck.

Bet all the Congressmen, the senate, the house of Reps don't have to worry about providing themselves with anything when it comes to health.

We have their backs. They couldn't make it without us.

I'm just a goddam "how stupid are ya" person.
