Shsss! Artie..NY Times is now going to be charging.
Thing is, if they aren't going to do real news, who would pay for it online? They have to be making something online.
Phil Wieland...hardly writes. Notice Keisling laid off on writing regularly since his article on his friend's death.
Doug Ross' article is still hanging in there since the beginning of Dec., despite one new article since then.
P-T keeps old news on the site...but does produce more stories. Kind of sad, but if I had to pay to read it online, it would not be worth it.
They did send some young kid to the house for a subscription. I did buy paper that day, nothing was worth 75 cents.
I think the big shot papers (Wall Street) makes you pay. I'm at my brother's, so I can read that free.
Thing is, if the towns would submit police reports to be published, or if they did some investigations, it would certainly be worth reading. The different news leaks, if they would call them in, it wouldn't cost the Times to publish what is happening in every town, and subscriptions would go up, then they could hire a few snoops for the IL side...like before.
The SouthStar, Herald News P-T all have reports from the police blotter for all their surrounding communities. What you don't read about is Dolton, Hammond, Cal City, Munster, St. John, Scherrervlle, etc., police blotters. Something that sells papers, they don't give out.
