| Here is a very good blog that talks about one of the private, for profit firms that was selected to operate Indiana schools that the state says is failing. Anyone want to take bets Edison Learning will be selected to run several schools in Indiana? In between the pension fund fraud and suggestions that students be used as slave labor in the cafeterias, they sound exactly like the kind of company that a former pot dealer like Mitch Daniels would select. | |

| Daniels privatizations schemes haven't worked out all that well. First it was welfare privatization that blew up in his face. Then the tollroad operators may default and they're only 5 years out of 75 into it Keep in mind this is the same tool that estimated the cost of the Iraq war at 50-60 billion s when he was Dubya's budget director. | |

I dunno, but Mitch is a darn good story teller. I read some where, one of the legislatures said Mitch is fibbing about being debt free in IN. The fact remains the pension fund is 14 billion in debt. What subject are we on? | |

| Well, even though this is really a talk about "privatizing education in Indiana," the discussion is really based on charter schools, etc. Religious schools being subsidized by the free voucher program, which isn't free at all. Wondering though, reading this today, if these charter schools are really what they are cracked up to be. Someone made a comment on that article that said there is no state regulation. The teachers don't have to have a license to even teach at the charter schools! Can you believe that? Money in't being documented properly. Enjoy. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/education/ct-met-charter-schools-health-1004-20111004,0,3377796.storyCharter school finances under the microscopeReport spurs optimism and cause for concern | |
