Yeah. Well, I believe that the South Siders have won every Interleague series that they have played in this year. They only need one more win in the next 2 games to make it 100%...

Good try,Scorp, but that's not the answer. While it's true that the Sox have a fantastic record in Interleague play, winning 18 of the last 19 series, the answer I'm looking for involves individual events/games that you can bet on.

Tiger Woods will not win a major championship...

Not many sports have been competing all year. Must be golf or NASCAR.

A couple of hints to try and help move this along. The sport is Major League Baseball. It's a possibility that the conditions for the next bet could be met on Tuesday.

Good Luck!

OK. One more try, and then I'm done.

The Cubs have yet to win 3 games in a row this season. If they win this afternoon, then they try again on Tuesday.

I can't believe that I didn't think of it right away, but it's really not something that I like to think about...

Scorp,You are CORRECT! Congratulations and good job. Betting against the Cubs after they win 2 games is 9-0 for the year.

We're in action today as the Cubs try to win 3 in a row for the first time this season. Very Happy

Gotta love the Cub mentality
Geovany Soto said:
Quote :
winning three in a row isn't important mentally for the Cubs, who won two straight for the first time since June 29-30.

"Not really. Three in a row hasn't happened yet, but we don't look at it that way. We're not really concern. We just want to have [good] ballgames and try to get into a rhythm.

confused How are you supposed to get in a "rhythm" when you can't win 3 games in a row?
Quote :
We've been on and off the whole year and we just want to have a mental breather to just get into rhythm, get everything to click and have everything go our way for a little bit," said Soto.
You had a "mental breather". It's called the All Star break and you're 4-5 since then Rolling Eyes I'd also love to know when the Cubs were supposedly "On".

Sorry about that,Big Fan. Sad Let me make it up to you. Smile Find someone who watches the TV show Big Brother and bet them that Brendan wins the "Power of Veto" on Wednesday night. Offer to give them odds if necessary. This one is a guaranteed winner! cheers

It's clear to any knowledgeable baseball fan that the Cubs are in full "rebuilding" mode. Everyone is tradable if the right deal comes along. It's far more important to restock the farm system that suffered under the previous management than it is to win ball games at this point.

I'm quite pleased with the moves that they've made so far, but I really don't think that any real Cubs fan expects much this season. The only thing that Cubs fans expect is that the current Cubs players work hard and play their best. Personally, I have no complaints at all on that front.

If the wins come, that's great. But the most important thing is that the new management continues to make deals that improve the team over the next couple of years. Personally, I think it's an exciting time to be a Cubs fan.

In light of the fact that this is clearly a rebuilding year for the team, I think that it's really petty and uncool that you've resurrected this thread, but if it makes you feel good about yourself, then knock yourself out.

Yeah,yeah,yeah...right Rolling Eyes And next year it'll be "a process",year after that..."big picture, year after that.."patience,'year after that.."we're on our way",year after that,"it's gonna happen" (It won't) until eventually people figure out that Theo Epstein isn't going to lead you into the promised land and we can start the dance all over again.

Good luck getting rid of Marmol or Soriano. Razz

Yeah, getting rid of Shawn Marshall and keeping Marmol who last year gave clear indications that he was on his way out. Resigning Kerry Wood who once again is on the DL. Shocked Gee,who could have predicted that? Rolling Eyes

No offense, but It's only the end of April.

Personally,I think it's an exciting time for Cub haters like me who will get to watch another train wreck unfold after being assured that the Cubs had finally found their messiah,Theo Epstein.

I think it's only fair that we see this play out from the beginning of the season. Last year I started this too late for anyone to really profit.

I also didn't restart it as an excuse to start bashing the Cubs, but I just had to respond to your usual overly optimistic comments that Cub fans have been putting forth for decades.

You're taking this way too personal,Scorpion. I'm just having some fun. Think of the abuse you can heap on me if the Cubs ever do go the World Series. I'll never be able to live it down.

Wow. If you substitute "Obama" for "Theo Epstein," and "Democrats" for "Cubs," do you realize who you sound like?

Oh, don't worry about me "taking it personal." I am, after all, a lifelong Cubs fan, and proud of it. I don't know if there even is such a thing as a thin-skinned Cubs fan.

And if the Cubs ever do go the World Series, I can assure you that I'd be much too happy to waste any time "heaping abuse" on anyone.

We have an interesting scenario coming up tomorrow. The Cubs have won 2 in a row after losing the previous 12. Of course these wins came at the expense of the unluckiest team in 2012,the SD Padres. Currently SD has 13 players on their DL.

If the hapless Cubs were playing any other team I would say full speed ahead on tomorrow's bet. However, besides the problems I outlined above,Ryan Dempster is the Cubs starter tomorrow and he's been quite effective. For those reasons I would suggest exercising caution and perhaps lowering your wagers to 25% or at most 50% of what you would usually wager. The good news is that at least you'll be getting a good price as the Cubs will be favored to win. Laughing

Win or lose tomorrow,I consider this just a weird glitch and would resume the bet as normal, assuming that Cubs ever win 2 in a row again.

Unfortunately, the Cubs ended up winning today despite Dempster giving up 6 runs. Sad That makes our record now 4-1 with a huge asterisk after the 1.

I expect the Cubs to get back to business, the business of losing, real soon now that they're going to be facing teams that don't have over half their roster on the DL. Very Happy So don't start celebrating just yet,Cub fans. They still managed to give up 16 runs in 3 games to the team currently with the worst record in baseball and 29th out of 30 in batting. Laughing
