| Roland Burris's Monument to Me Roland Burris, the man Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich picked to succeed Barack Obama in the Senate, might get to etch another accolade into the monument he built for himself if this appointment goes through. You see, Burris has already charted his esteemed career path on the walls of his future grave in Chicago's Oak Woods Cemetery (pictured here). Beneath a seal of the state of Illinois, Burris lists his accomplishments to date, and there seems to be plenty of room above the bench to mention his career in the Senate - if he has one. http://www.politico.com/blogs/thecrypt/1208/Roland_Burriss_Monument_to_Me.html?showallI don't know about you but I think this is a very egotistical man. |

| I read that in Saturday's Tribune, I believe. They showed a picture of that, and like you, whomever wrote the article thought there was enough room to put Junior Senator on it. LOL
Egotistical...yep. | |

| He claims he has no money to have given Blago in the first place. Wonder who paid for this headstone? |

Actually I believe him when he said he did not give Blago money for the seat. he said it under oath, so if he were to lie, he would not get seated as a Senator, and you know that he is trying to get that seat. Now that doesn't mean he isn't being rewarded for a prior donation though, but that would have to be proven, which it would be hard to do |

| Well he certainly got snubbed last night at the Address to Congress. Barack walked all around him but never offered his hand to him or even looked at him directly. He must want that senator title on his tomestone so badly that he is willing to be shunned by all. | |

- Burris' son hired by state housing authority
BY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS | Thursday, February 26, 2009 SPRINGFIELD | The son of embattled Sen. Roland Burris landed a job with the Illinois Housing Development Authority five months ago under the administration of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported in Thursday editions that the hiring of Roland Burris II as senior counsel came six weeks after the Internal Revenue Service slapped him with a $34,163 tax lien and three weeks after a mortgage company filed a foreclosure lawsuit on his Chicago home.
Gov. Pat Quinn said Thursday that his office is reviewing how Burris' son got the job to "make sure everything is right and proper."
"I think the matter deserves serious review, and quickly," he said.
Quinn noted the housing authority makes its own hiring decisions, but he said he might have some recommendations to make after looking into the issue.
Quinn spokesman Bob Reed said that even before the hiring of Burris' son was reported, the governor's top lawyer and chief of staff had launched a review of attorneys at all state agencies to make sure they're all capable. He would not say whether the administration is checking performance of other kinds of staffers.
The Housing Authority oversees mortgage programs for low-income home buyers and anti-foreclosure initiatives.
Authority spokeswoman Rebecca Boykin told the Sun-Times that Burris II was given the $75,000 job based on his qualifications and in response to a published job posting.
The senator is fending off calls for his resignation because of conflicting testimony he provided the House panel that drafted impeachment charges against Blagojevich.
Sen. Burris' spokesman referred questions to Burris lawyer Timothy Wright III, who declined comment. A message left for Roland Burris II at his office was not immediately returned. |

| I guess they don't care what he's done just as long as he is black, and that's all that matters. - Quote :
- Burris gets support from Chicago's black caucus
(http://www.southtownstar.com/news/1451833,Burris-Black-Aldermen-0226.article)
February 26, 2009
The Associated Press
Some Chicago aldermen say calls for Sen. Roland Burris' resignation are unfair and politically motivated.
Members of the City Council's Black Caucus held a news conference today to defend Burris, the nation's only black senator.
It was one of the most public displays of support since controversy erupted over whether Burris lied about the circumstances of his appointment by former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
The ousted governor is accused of trying to sell the seat. Burris recently revealed that he tried, unsuccessfully, to raise money for Blagojevich.
Sixth Ward Alderman Freddrenna Lyle says calls for Burris' resignation are unfair because white politicians have not been similarly targeted after accusations of wrongdoing. I guess Alderman Freddrenna Lyle forgot about Blago. He screwed up, and we got rid of him. Oh yeah, and he's white. |

I agree wholeheartedly and so does everybody I've talked to. Burris created his mess all by himself. It's his very own statements that have raised questions.Unfortunately, people like Bobby Rush are claiming it's because he's black. Nothing could be further from the truth. | |
