Good try,Scorp,but that's not the answer. While it's true that the Sox have a fantastic record in Interleague play,winning 18 of the last 19 series,the answer I'm looking for involves individual events/games that you can bet on.

It's clear to any knowledgeable baseball fan that the Cubs are in full "rebuilding" mode. Everyone is tradable if the right deal comes along. It's far more important to restock the farm system that suffered under the previous management than it is to win ball games at this point.

I'm quite pleased with the moves that they've made so far, but I really don't think that any real Cubs fan expects much this season. The only thing that Cubs fans expect is that the current Cubs players work hard and play their best. Personally, I have no complaints at all on that front.

If the wins come, that's great. But the most important thing is that the new management continues to make deals that improve the team over the next couple of years. Personally, I think it's an exciting time to be a Cubs fan.

In light of the fact that this is clearly a rebuilding year for the team, I think that it's really petty and uncool that you've resurrected this thread, but if it makes you feel good about yourself, then knock yourself out.

Yeah,getting rid of Shawn Marshall and keeping Marmol who last year gave clear indications that he was on his way out. Resigning Kerry Wood who once again is on the DL. Gee,who could have predicted that?

I think it's only fair that we see this play out from the beginning of the season. Last year I started this too late for anyone to really profit.

I also didn't restart it as an excuse to start bashing the Cubs,but I just had to respond to your usual overly optimistic comments that Cub fans have been putting forth for decades.

Oh, don't worry about me "taking it personal." I am, after all, a lifelong Cubs fan, and proud of it. I don't know if there even is such a thing as a thin-skinned Cubs fan.

3-0 after last night's loss to the Braves.

Cubs bullpen comes through again with the Cardinals scoring the winning run in the bottom of the
9th. Now 4-0 for the year

We have an interesting scenario coming up tomorrow. The Cubs have won 2 in a row after losing the previous 12. Of course these wins came at the expense of the unluckiest team in 2012,the SD Padres. Currently SD has 13 players on their DL.

If the hapless Cubs were playing any other team I would say full speed ahead on tomorrow's bet. However,besides the problems I outlined above,Ryan Dempster is the Cubs starter tomorrow and he's been quite effective. For those reasons I would suggest exercising caution and perhaps lowering your wagers to 25% or at most 50% of what you would usually wager. The good news is that at least you'll be getting a good price as the Cubs will be favored to win.

Win or lose tomorrow,I consider this just a weird glitch and would resume the bet as normal,assuming that Cubs ever win 2 in a row again.

Unfortunately,the Cubs ended up winning today despite Dempster giving up 6 runs. That makes our record now 4-1 with a huge asterisk after the 1.

I expect the Cubs to get back to business,the business of losing,real soon now that they're going to be facing teams that don't have over half their roster on the DL. So don't start celebrating just yet,Cub fans. They still managed to give up 16 runs in 3 games to the team currently with the worst record in baseball and 29th out of 30 in batting.
