On Mayor McDermott's radio show, "Lefty", a frequent critic of the Mayor, called in. The Mayor asked "Lefty" if he was a Hammond city resident because the show exists to give Hammond residents access to the Mayor every week. Lefty responded by saying he knew the Mayor wanted to find out his "real" identity and he would be willing to do so if the Mayor would provide a hair sample for drug testing. Lefty believes that Mayor McDermott is using drugs because the Mayor talks fast. News alert for Lefty, intelligent people think fast and can express themselves eloquently. I'm sure that concept is hard for someone like Lefty who, judging by the way he speaks,struggles to tie his shoes without help.What ensued after that was a complete smackdown of Lefty by the Mayor. The Mayor beat him like a red headed step child, explaining that Lefty is the kind of whackjob he deals with everyday. "Charlie" also called in. He said Hammond is dying because the Mayor has spent so much money on bike paths. He also called the Mayor "stupid". Sounds like the Preacher's death a few years back pushed Charley right over the edge.
