He rarely steered me wrong on a movie. When he said something was good, it was usually at least watchable, if not great. And when he said something sucked, it generally did.

A truly brilliant mind. I sadly wasn't really aware of his brilliance until his absolutely devastating critique of Ben Stein's anti-evolution schlock "Exposed".
He was one of the writer's that helped me become less ashamed of being an atheist, especially after years of abuse at the hand of the Catholic Church. I can only hope his writings served as as much inspiration for me as they should for others.

Yeah. I'll especially miss Ebert's movie reviews. He has always been my "go-to" source when it came down to deciding whether a movie was worth my time. I didn't always agree with him, of course, but he was really, really good at it.
I haven't read a whole lot of his other stuff. I probably should.
