I think individual action can accomplish what our federal government refuses to do. Last week, I purchased an EV. Not the the gas/electric Chevrolet Volt but the all electric Nissan Leaf. Once the public drives an EV, there will be no turning back.
The car is awesome. It's perfectly quiet, handles well, lights up the tires and rockets down the road. There's no oil changes needed, brakes last 100,000 miles and my utility provided has agreed to buy sustainably produced power for every KW I use recharging it.It's 95 mile range is more that adequate for my needs. We have to be the change we want to see in the world. Rebuilding infrastructure without investing in more sustainable ways to produce energy and transportation is a cause that will end in failure.
