WASHINGTON—With new trouble appearing in the Middle East and the Pentagon facing possible budget cuts, the Republican White House contenders are debating for the second time in as many weeks how they would do better than President Barack Obama in protecting and extending America's national security.

I predict we'll hear about how Iran needs to be bombed along with a lot of self-depracating humor concerning their gaffes.

8pm ET on CNN – Live Stream
Location: DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC
Sponsor: CNN, The Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute
Participants: Bachmann, Cain, Gingrich, Huntsman, Paul, Perry, Romney, Santorum

Haven't watched it. I'm assuming it's just as mind-numbingly stupid as the rest. This quote from Little Green Footballs didn't help:

Quote :
Right wing candidates being asked a series of right wing questions by representatives of right wing think tanks -- that's what CNN tried to pawn off on America as a "debate" tonight.

Have there been more "debates" this time around? I don't remember there being as many last time, but I may not have been paying as much attention. Or are they going absolutely overboard since they're desperately trying to find someone other than Romney to beat Obama?

It was a ridiculous "debate" hosted by neocons who asked the questions. Paul Wolfowitz, one of the leading architects of the Iraq debacle, even got to ask a question. Rolling Eyes

Believe it or not there was even 1 more by this time in 2007. Shocked There were 21 overall in the 2008 election vs 24 this time around.

I think the big difference is that last time there was only one candidate that would reliably give you crazy sound bites (Ron Paul) and I believe all the candidates were at least able to remember 3 talking points without having a brain freeze like Perry.

This time you've got Cain,Bachmann,Perry and Paul, all on stage together at the same time. affraid You have 3 people that at any other time in history would be considered fringe candidates at best, actually leading the polls at one time. This field of crazies is so deep that a certified wingnut like Rick Santorum begins to sound reasonable. Then the rest, with the exception of Huntsman, join in the race to the far,far right. Add in some spectacular gaffes, the phony candidacy of attention seeking Donald Trump that warmed up the lunatics with the birther nonsense, and you've got all the makings of a real 3 ring circus. Late night comics and cable news channels are having a field day with this bunch.

As I said months ago. Romney will be the nominee, and the perfect choice for VP is Huckabee.

I just hope the insane clown posse debates cause the Independents to run away from the GOP.
