| Anyone read the Sun-Times today? The paper is now approximately the size of of what "Life" magazine used to be,just a little bit larger than a magazine. If they downsize it any more it will be the same size as a comic book. On Sunday the geniuses announced that the TV guide insert listings would no longer be free. You now will have to subscribe separately. They tried doing away with them once before and the complaints were so loud that they had to back down and keep including them. Do they not realize that a significant number of their core base is older people, the type that don't use a computer, have a smart phone,or subscribe to cable TV? They subscribe because it's habit and they like TV listings included. This will be one more nail in the paper's coffin. Oh,and make sure to keep giving away content for free on-line. | |

| The Sun-Times announced some time ago that the Chicago Tribune will be taking over the printing production for them.
In the Saturday's issue of the Chicago Tribune, (Oct. 1), there was a reminder on the front page of the Trib by the Sun-Times, that this was going to transpire in their Monday edition, and that changes will occur over a course of time, (lay-out, design, etc.) as they adjust to the new printing machines, etc.
I read the Chicago Tribune; the reporting is more like the way news used to be presented. It has gotten thicker with more content.
Give it time, I'm sure the Sun-Times will adjust.
I was looking to buy the Sun-Times yesterday at the store, and there wasn't any. Maybe I overlooked it, given the description you gave, Art.

Ur,If you've ever seen an Aldi foods insert,it's only a couple of inches bigger in length and about the same size in width.

| Bought one yesterday. Same size of the Chicago Tribune, SouthStar, Herald News, etc.
Less pages than the Tribune. More like a flyer. Less news.
I get to read the Chicago Tribune paper only because there was a deal on it for $2.50 a week for "x" amount of weeks, and occasionally buy other papers if I need to wait at a Dr.'s office or whatever.
You really should buy the Chicago Tribune and read that instead of the Chicago Sun-Times and you will see there is far more content. They have more articles on the state and nation.
I've also found that they provide more indepth reporting on "same subject" articles than the Chicago Sun-Times.
Then again, I read most of them on-line. The Wall Street Journal, NY Times, Los Angelos Times.
My hometown newspaper.
Charlie, the hometown church devotee passed away. Felt like part of my childhood went with him.

No,The Southtown stayed the same and is now bigger. Makes me wonder if they'll be folding soon. Makes no sense to shrink the Sun-Times and not the other. I'll have to check and see if the Post-Trib has shrunk too.

| I noticed the Post-Trib for Porter County, Starke County is way thicker with more news.
Noticed Gary is not publishing crimes like they used to. Maybe crimes went down. You know, the rap sheet they get from the cop station? That one.

That's gonna happen when you make the dimensions smaller.

| I just realized this a.m., the Chicago Tribune from yesterday returned to its old full-page format!!!
Must be going nuts in the press room, trying to churn out the Sun-Times, and not enough manpower, nor presses to compress.

That's gonna happen when you make the dimensions smaller. No, it was Sunday or Monday's edition. The Chicago Sun-Times was really thin, lacking news. The size of the paper had to be the same size of the SouthStar, The Daily Herald, the Post-Trib, etc., because the Sun-Times produces those editions. Damn Artie, now you have me wanting to go out and size them up at the gas station. I'm THAT curious!! LOL

I picked up the Post and they are now the same size as the Times. The Star for some reason still remains larger despite they have the mor minimal content.
