I wonder if Rahm Emanual wants the job? No matter what, Shortshanks is going to leave a GW Bush style mess for his successor to clean up....
Quote :
Mayor Richard Daley says he will not run for re-election in 2011, saying it's "time for me, it's time for Chicago to move on."

"The
truth is I have been thinking about this for the past several months,"
Daley said at a City Hall news conference. "In the end this is a
personal decision, no more, no less."

His wife Maggie stood by
his side with the help of a crutch, smiling broadly as the mayor
continued: "I have always known that people want you to work hard for
them. Clearly, they won't always agree with you. Obviously, they don't
like it when you make a mistake. But at all times, they expect you to
lead, to make difficult decisions, rooted in what's right for them.

"For
21 years, that's what I've tried to do," he said. "But today, I am
announcing that I will not seek a 7th term as mayor of the city of Chicago.
"Simply put, it's time," said Daley, 68. "Time for me, it's time for Chicago to move on."

It is time...who is more important than your wife?

I doubt anyone better can take his place, corruption and all.

Vote one in, same ole' shitz.

Term limits and publicized contracts, no family involved, no campaign donations is the only true way to find a public servant willing to serve on merit.

Watch for the "Maddash" and more corruption after he leaves.

Watching the news, reading the news...most said that Emanual has the money, but doesn't have the "backing" as one guy said while being interviewed.

I think Sheriff Dart would be the guy to go for. I just hope for the sake of a fair election, people base their vote on someone they know that will turn things around, and keep the voters' concerns in mind, and quit the corruptions.

I sort of wasn't surprised that Daley announced it, with little time before the deadline to file...sorta relieves the cartoons they have on t.v. promising this or that.

I always wondered why a politician would want to work until death do they part (the political job, or any job) at past 65 yrs. old. What good does the money do you when you have an average of "x" amount of years left in old age to enjoy life?

I think Daley's just tired. Everything he touched lately turned to shitz. The educational thing, the killings, the budget, etc. I think he thought time with family was long-overdue.

And, he gave it all he had, and though there was corruption, he may as well have gone as he did. Why waste life?

Corruption probably will always exist; his time with his wife may be limited, and he just looks haggard.

Time to pass the torch.

It'll be interesting to see who takes his place. I just hope people don't vote on skin color, nationality or country of origin - but on trust and ethics, leadership, values, and a big fat "I PROMISE TRANSPARENCY".

Then again, I really don't care. I don't go to Chicago, and WON'T go, unless I have to pick up my daughter.

So, it doesn't really matter anymore.

No, I don't live there...thank GOD...I feel for the people who have to choose from a circus. I think after reading and observing..Chico is the guy. Rham is running on the fact he left the POTUS and "always wanted to return to Chicago". Now he things he has leverage. Just the opposite.

I think Chico sounds far more informed and better qualified. But, what do we care, as one commenter put it, "If you don't live in Chicago, you have no right to express your feelings".

Thanks for your demolishing Cabrini Green onto the south suburbs and northern Indiana...I think we do have a right to an opinion...idiot

Those people in high rises living the life looking outside their windows...upon the sun up or down....think
Detroit.
