Chuck DeVore, California Senate Candidate, Pretends Jack Bauer Really Exists In Strange Campaign Ad
Quote :
Chuck DeVore, perennial also-ran in the race for the GOP nomination to run against Barbara Boxer for the California Senate, continues to plague the world with his overall awfulness. The latest is this astoundingly goofy advertisement that attempts to farm synergy with the popular series "24". It begins with DeVore pretending that he received military training with the show's fictional character, Jack Bauer...

You know, let me just stop right there.

Yes. This campaign ad actually pretends that "Jack Bauer" was a real person that Chuck DeVore once knew. It goes on to describe a bunch of perfectly decent accomplishments with ridiculously outsized heroic pomp, including a single instance where DeVore mowed his lawn (yes, I'm serious). And then it asks you to consider what candidate "Jack Bauer" would support in the California Senate election. And on any given day, that would make for a fairly stupid campaign ad. But really, again, THIS AD PRETENDS THAT "JACK BAUER" IS A REAL PERSON THAT CHUCK DEVORE ONCE KNEW.

I mean, why not go all in and tell voters that you were in the Dharma Initiative and pushed a button in "the Hatch" in order to save the world?

Talking about mistakes for the GOP, I agree, but there are just as many warped Demobrats out there.

Read this from the SouthStar and it was an exclusive from the crook Mike Madigan on why IL is in such an economic crisis.

No comments were posted at the time I read it at 4 a.m., but I included the one page...I sincerely believe there are bad demos and bad repos and our nation is really messed up. Due to corruption. The finger pointing never ends. Both and all parties are at fault.

Madigan: 'We must put aside partisan games'
Comments

June 27, 2010

On May 12, I offered to turn my column space over to Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) to explain his views on this state's budget crisis to the people of Illinois. Madigan, the most powerful political figure in Illinois, responded to that offer last week and here, unedited and (as promised) without comment from me, is his statement.

The Road to the Present

Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) explains his views on the state's budget crisis.

(File photo)
In discussing the causes of our fiscal difficulties in Illinois, it is critical to note that we are not alone - that in fact, a staggering 46 of 50 states have been forced into deficit budgets for the upcoming fiscal year. Is the state government in Illinois to blame for the national economic downturn? Of course not.

The blame flows more logically in the opposite direction. More than anything, Illinois is suffering the effects of a profoundly severe recession whose origins can be traced directly to the policies of the federal government since 1994's "Republican Revolution."

I am not the first to identify a number of national policy failures, prior to President Obama's election, that hamstrung our state and fostered the economic downturn: (1) tax breaks for the rich; (2) uncontrolled spending; (3) stampeding the country into the Iraq War - a war of choice projected to cost $3 trillion; (4) lack of Wall Street oversight; (5) tax and trade policies that rewarded job outsourcing; (6) giving free rein to predatory mortgage lenders and investment banks; and (7) cheap credit made possible by the Federal Reserve's low lending rates. These policies served the short-term interests of the wealthy but, over the long term, have created an epic economic disaster that has sent millions of Americans and nearly all state governments reeling.

Yeah, well six months ago, I was concerned about Hispanic turnout in the upcoming election being low because of lack of action on Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

I now doubt that will be a problem. There still won't be any action on Immigration Reform before the election. But thanks to Arizona's idiotic law, Hispanics are most likely going to be highly motivated to vote this November, and they are not going to be voting for Republicans...

Hey Scorp...point is, AZ is following the Constitution. And with less enforcement that it states in the Constitution.

The thing is...in the SunTimes today, or the Drudge Report, can't recall where I read it...hundreds of Hispanics are leaving AZ to go back to Mexico or to relocate in another state. I assume they are legal Hispanics relocating to other states. Why run to Mexico if you are legal?

A cop has a right to find out in this type of situation where they are overwhelmingly killing U.S. citizens (such as the rancher that even helped them), to question them if they can't produce any id's just like they would you or me, if we were caught in te midst of a crime. I applaud them for asking because we have the right to ask....if not, we're Mexico.

If you enter legally, fine. If you enter illegally, you are up to no good.

On the other hand, I have to back-track that question...."Why run back to Mexico if you are legally here?"

My son's friend met a woman from Mexico while she was visiting friends on a visa. She did not like it here. She had two children and her whole family is in Mexico. She returned before her visa was up, but my son's friend and she fell in love.

He went to where she lived which is the lower part of Mexico and stayed until HIS visa was up, and came back after getting married. He loves it down there. He said the house they reside in would cost $300,000 in IL. He said it was $90,000.00 down there with majestic mountains for a backyard view, and a small pool, with a nearby lake that they really can't swim in. But, he now is back to working here to collect enough to transfer citizenship to Mexico. To work there legally and be a legal citizen.

You see, we're a screwed up nation. The border is the problem. Corruption is the problem. Politicians here worry about the votes, and they count on those Hispanic votes. But, problem is, there are no jobs here anymore.

They are starting to realize that Mexico isn't as bad as they thought (the good citizens), and though they get paid on a smaller scale, their cost of living is a helluva lot cheaper compared to what we are being charged here.

Their electric bill is $50.00 for two months of A/C. The woman's father is an electrical engineer.

Point is...soon because of our economy, Hispanics won't be the issue. I think Mexico will finally wake up and realize there isn't anything here for them anymore. They do have welfare and doctors to see where she resides. But, she sustains herself with her education, raising two kids with 2 jobs and does have child support.

I think those that come here don't want a better life for themselves. They just want to suck up whatever is free and have no real family to speak of. SHE went home because her family is there. She didn't like the U.S.

As for votes, who gives a crap anymore? Our voices don't count, nor do our votes. All the politicians worry about is their career and pensions. I worked for the gov't and quit because I was bored to death, even though I made myself indispensible in every department....I saw the waste back then. I made good money...but it was my conscious that bothered me. Getting paid to do nothing.

Nonsense. Arizona is not "following the Constitution." Feel free to point out exactly what in the the Constitution supports your contention.

I've read Arizona's "law," and it says nothing at all about checking immigration status only during the commission of a crime. Basically, it's a license to stop anyone at any time and demand their identification papers. If the person doesn't have them handy, they are thrown in jail... doesn't matter if a person is here legally or illegally. If they don't have their "papers," then they go directly to prison.

Any way that you slice it, that's clearly unconstitutional.

I understand the frustration with illegal immigration, but this law is not the answer. Comprehensive Immigration Reform is the answer, just as it was a few years ago. As I've stated before, the same folks who opposed Comprehensive Reform a few years ago now bitch about the Federal government's inaction.

They are enforcing a FEDERAL LAW, they received no response after five letters to Obama and took matters in their own hands.

Would you dare go live there if you knew they could and would break in your house...see them committing drug trafficing, and things they know that exist?

It used to be the refuge for retirement - the idealistic place to live for retirees. Now look.

Would you live there, knowing what is occuring there?

For the fact that some states are joining in the lawsuit, and the FEDS will sue, makes you wonder who's side the FEDS are on. Taxes pay for the FEDS and the illegals. You don't have a problem with that?

I recall a story some woman wrote some years ago when this immigration problem started to get peoples' attention.

She was a very and probably still is, a very educated woman who married a successful man from another country, I believe it was Argentina...she explained the process, the money they had to pay and the wait...and she wrote about it because she despised the fact that others were able to break the law, but if she wanted her marriage legal and bring her husband to NY, she spoke of the amount of money it took...I don't recall the exact amount, but it led to thousands and thousands of dollars. Both were working professionals, that just wanted to do the right thing by the law.

So, what is that makes it different for illegals hopping the border? There is a story today in the Sun-Times, NWI, etc., about how a guy from Munster worked at the Midway airport, and took bribes for them to stay longer than the year required.

I know of from the past a doctor who resides in Munster, owns a chain of motels, changes the names of the account holder and owner every seven years to avoid paying taxes for seven years. They changed the names of the owners on Motel 8 in Lansing, and the motels in Harvey right off of I-94 West at Halsted.

They know how to play the game. Every paycheck after a certain amount of time came from another LCC company. He is based in Michigan City. As soon as they built, a guy with a white robe and white hood, with a gold band, came to the hotel in a SUV back in the early 2000s, and they bowed to him.

I found out later they are a team that work from overseas, and they just switch the name of the company every seven years to others in the extended family...I have their invoices, receipts, what they paid the guy I was going with and ditched last...who himself was a piece of stupid, and anyway, that's how they work the system. The matriach is in Munster...I know the way there, but don't know the exact address, and both are doctors....and the house is a mansion...

When you come here from another country and start an enterprise, company, you don't have to pay taxes for seven years. Get my griff...it's not just the little gang-bangers...it's the big-shots, the corruption within our own country that allows these idiots to feed off of us. I'm personally sick of it...and glad I kept that bag of records in my closet...and am thinking of going to the IRS with it. I copied everything and kept the original bookwork on them.

Was just waiting for the right time...and I think it is time to go to the FEDS with my evidence. I had no part in it, just the idiot (not my kids' father) but a jag-off I was with at the time. You know the story.

I'm sure it's still going on...and if there's a whistle blower reward....or not, I think it's time to let the FEDS know what I knew back then and they can check out the tracking system.

I know what hospital that doctor worked at....I know who ran the inside of the hotels...his daughters' name, and I kept their numbers.

Yeah, well there is no" Federal Law" that says it's OK to arbitrarily imprison people, including American citizens, simply because they don't have their birth certficate on them.

You talk as if there is no enforcement at all... as if nobody ever gets deported by the Feds under existing law. That's just plain false.

I really don't give a damn about anecdotes about this person or that person. Anecdotes don't tell us anything about the problem. Generalizing based upon anecdotal evidence and implying that all Hispanic people are criminals or drug dealers is nothing more than blatant racial stereotyping.

I really wish that the illegals that were given amnesty over the years beginning with Reagan would start coming forward to show the lives they've built for themselves. There has to be millions, when you include their offspring, who are honest, productive hard working citizens as a result of those actions.
