| All of $484,875. Over six years. Divided between the institution, lab, assistants and collaborators and his equipment suppliers... So of course it must be a conspiracy!! - Quote :
- Oh, Mann: Cuccinelli targets UVA papers in Climategate salvo
No one can accuse Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli of shying from controversy. In his first four months in office, Cuccinelli directed public universities to remove sexual orientation from their anti-discrimination policies, attacked the Environmental Protection Agency, and filed a lawsuit challenging federal health care reform. Now, it appears, he may be preparing a legal assault on an embattled proponent of global warming theory who used to teach at the University of Virginia, Michael Mann.
In papers sent to UVA April 23, Cuccinelli’s office commands the university to produce a sweeping swath of documents relating to Mann’s receipt of nearly half a million dollars in state grant-funded climate research conducted while Mann— now director of the Earth System Science Center at Penn State— was at UVA between 1999 and 2005.
If Cuccinelli succeeds in finding a smoking gun like the purloined emails that led to the international scandal dubbed Climategate, Cuccinelli could seek the return of all the research money, legal fees, and trebled damages. Still lacking any science in their arguments, especially post-The Climategate That Never Was, "skeptics" simply target a different "messenger" to attack. Though it will have rather predictable results.

- Al Gore could become world's first carbon billionaire
Al Gore, the former US vice president, could become the world's first carbon billionaire after investing heavily in green energy companies.
Last year Mr Gore's venture capital firm loaned a small California firm $75m to develop energy-saving technology.
The company, Silver Spring Networks, produces hardware and software to make the electricity grid more efficient.
The deal appeared to pay off in a big way last week, when the Energy Department announced $3.4 billion in smart grid grants, the New York Times reports. Of the total, more than $560 million went to utilities with which Silver Spring has contracts.
The move means that venture capital company Kleiner Perkins and its partners, including Mr Gore, could recoup their investment many times over in coming years. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/energy/6491195/Al-Gore-could-become-worlds-first-carbon-billionaire.html

| So how much money did the JASON Defense Advisory group get when they penned the modern theory long before Al Gore got to it? How about the d00d who discovered it in 1850? Everyone who worked on it in between? Do all climate scientists get mads amounts of cash or just investors? 'Cause if it's just investors like Gore, what's the kickback for the scientists? You know, 'cause I'm sure you've thought this bullshit through. Are you back for an actual discussion, or will you continue to hide from substantive conversation on the topic since you're clearly out of your league? | |

| Actual discussion/debate shouldn't be predicated with an initial insult. If that is your tactic, debate yourself. I have neither the time nor patience to satisfy your ego, as inflated as it is. | |

| I didn't think you were back for an honest discussion, tease. Had you behaved any different than your partisan, denialist counterparts that I've been dealing with for years now, I would have treated you as such. But I knew you weren't ever here for an honest discussion months ago: - Quote :
- Typical denialist, still avoiding my questions. I've given you ample opportunity to prove you're not the standard partisan hack that I've dealt with a thousand times before, but for whatever reason, you don't seem interested.
The fact that I wrote that in a topic you started, one even you acknowledged was false from the start, speaks volumes about your honesty. But if you want to use the "you hurt my feewings so I'm not talking to you" in order for us to believe that you're finally here for an honest discussion of the facts, go ahead, but just be aware that no one is buying it.
