In some states hate crime legislation makes it a greater crime to assault a gay or a homeless person than a 13 year old straight kid. So do kids have less rights than gays & the homeless? As some define "a right" it would seem so.
You claim gays are persecuted? There's an African country trying to pass a law to put gays in jail for life for getting married.
How did homeless people get on the hate-crimes list?
Homeless people have been killed,maimed,set on fire,etc for no reason other than being homeless and living on the street. It's sickening what some of these people have been subjected to. Google 'homeless murdered' and you'll see what I mean.

Yeah, I read stories every day about straight kids being attacked because they are straight. Give me a frickin' break!

The point is gays are not being persecuted in this country any more than a visitor at a Philadelphia sporting event. Do those fans also deserve hate crime status? The laws we have already grant rights to citizens and it is wrong to create special interest groups with super rights. Now Uganda, THAT'S persecution! But if most Americans no not wish to embrace homosexuality the government has no business getting involved or giving gays or any other special interest group more rights and privileges than any other citizen.
Homosexuality is a choice of conduct. As long as it is harmless and between consenting adults those who practice it are protected under their rights as citizens, as it should be.

Choice of conduct; a choice to act on the given impulses. I can see that. But yeah, I would think the same would apply to heterosexuals, too.

Powerful stuff. IMHO, the best way for the LGBT community to fight back is to "out" all of the politicians who are guilty of this kind of hypocrisy. There is little doubt that the LGBT community knows who most of these politicians are... I suspect that the gay community has an ethical problem with "outing" people, but when it comes to politicians who are secretly gay, yet undercut gay rights at every turn, then I think that the gay community should make an exception and expose every single one of them.
I saw "Outrage". It was on HBO some months ago but documentaries like this never gain traction unless of course you're caught playing footsie in an airport bathrooms. I can think of a few other Republicans that belong in it. Lindsay Graham R-SC and Mitch McConnel R-KY, would be a good start.

I at first, thought for a long time that it was a gene defect...now I'm starting to think it's a rage pr cult. Well, that it's grown out of proportion. So, now I don't know, except for the gays I know, they claim they were born in the wrong body...but they are good friends, just a few I know...and I have more of a blast making jokes about them...and they laugh their butts off right back at me. It just seems too many have popped out of the closet to seem real.
You had Madonna and Britney kissing on stage, so I think some of that influence the wrong kids...
I always felt that everyone should not be exposing their sexual preferences. Why toot your horn when married couples don't go around announcing they are straight.
What do I care if you are attracted to your own sex? Give them the legal rights for legal reassons, insurance, etc. Be done with it.
My daughter lives in LA. Almost everyone she knows is gay, but she doesn't judge them and it doesn't matter to her...she's just trying to find someone straight, independent, and smart like her. She's doing a darn good job of taking care of herself...but she has many gay friends, black, white, every race all across America...it's something you either accept or walk away from. She plays jokes on them when their on tour...like hiding a little ole' lady in the bathroom while on tour and allowing a gay guy to go in their, filming it, he starts moaning like he's having sex with her, backfiring her joke, they both come out laughing. That was on the tour bus....
I have friends (male) that are great...they laugh when I poke 'em with jokes. It's something they feel they were born with, not something they chose to be.
Back to the subject, regarding politicians that are gay voting against gay rights, getting caught...America has lost its values, its integrity and trust on every politician in the US. No matter who we think will serve us no longer keep their word after the election. We're the real loosers.
I know longer believe the gov't is about serving us. I believe they just want to serve themselves. I no longer have faith in Washington.
