NWI will most certainly be snubbed again. But here's a link if you'd like to ask a question.

Indiana Senate Debate: Republicans Empty
PostSubject: Re: Indiana Senate Debate: Republicans   Indiana Senate Debate: Republicans Empty3/21/2010, 3:54 pm

I have a question, Paul...why is NWI all Demobrats and no Republicans are challenging?

Why is there not the same old running? Why don't people in NWI have a choice? Same old running, so why bother spending money on campaigning if no one outside the circle, except the same ones are running?

I confess I don't understand because I have no real history of knowing why or how it works in Lake County when it comes to challening Republicans...cuz I've never read about Republicans running against the Demobrats...

So, they are left with no choice, but to see the same ones run. So why do they need campaign coffers? No oner is challenging them, so why spend the money that could be used for what is really needed, and just run on merit?

I know I'm not informed, so fill me in...why is Lake County full of Demo's only and never challenged by someone new (outsider) or a Republican?

I always stated I was independent, but what choice do voters have if the same old are the only oes vying for the same old?

Why are there not laws about you can't work for (Clay, for example), the city as Mayor, but be the public works commissioner, or whatever that second position is, collecting two checks when you know darn well, he doesn't do any work for that other spot. This is the waste, and it needs to end,

Just like in IL, the Lt. Gov's office, one guy quit in the past saying there was nothing to do in that office except sit by in case something happens to the Gov., then they become Gov. How many times has that happened except in Blago's case?

If they die, elect someone and save the expense of occupying a needless office. It's not like somebody is gonna bomb IL if they go a few months without a gov. Especially when the gov has no spine after Blago left. Besides, that Madigan guy is a full time career politician who calls the shots, no matter who is Lt. Gov, or Gov. He owns everything in Springfield, so it's not like an E.R. situation,

So sick of the waste. More people working for the gov't than in the private sector, so they raise taxes to cover the patronage in every state.

I hope one day they realize they can't squeeze blood out of a turnip, take a cut in pay, and God puts them in our place across the USA.

No one but the politicians created this crisis we are experiencing today. They want to raise taxes, borrow from casinos to put a band-aid on their spending this year?

What are ya gonna do next year when everyone is out of work and without homes to pay property taxes?

The casinos. Borrow, set aside to get to the next year, Yep, put a bandaid on the problem now, next year the boats just might sink if you raise taxes when people are losing homes, jobs, credit, etc.

You either are a politician, or you're out of a job. In the future, it will slap them in the face. No one is gonna be around to pay their 200,000 salaries, no jobs, businesses will fail, the boat will sink. Then what?

I guess cut out the Festival cuz the only ones able to afford it are the ones who don't have to pay and get there free.

No transparency in any state, and I think we will see more and more people moving out of the country, especially businesses.

BP and the casinos can only pay out so much....and these politicians think that money is always gonna come to them in the form of the casino revenue. It might work this year for Hammond, but what about next year?

It wasn't intended to pay politicians' payroll. It was intende to fix an upgrade the cities. Look how they got themselves in a hole. They don't think about their future...only how to sustain their positions now.

If you can't make payroll, you need to get rid and cut down on things, merge offices, and tell your patrons you can't afford to pay them anymore.

Instead, they ask for the council to part with a share to sustain their payrolls.

I'm not an accountant, but I used to be a bookkeeper. If you can't make payroll, you cut an tie up other resources to keep the business alive....you seek more businesses to relocate.

Instea of sittin on the cruise boat, the pols should be out advocatin tax breaks, inviting commercial parks, telling companies the advantage of relocating here instea of in New Lenox, Bolingbrook, etc.

If they read the papers, they have a shot at relocating the business park from New Lenox to Iniana, cuz they already were threatening to relocate because they needed their tax property lowered, so their property taxes should be lowered. Another company threatening to leave IL for a better place to do business without the extra unfair taxes.

Instead, radio programs, whatever...the mayor should be reading about these businesses threatening to leave New Lenox, Bolingbrook and and offer them an alternative.

I could go on an on, but you never hear of them trying to spark up business parks..cuz they don't bother reading the business sections in IL prominent neighborhoods, where taxes are forcing big warehouses to want to move out to a cheaper state or out of the country.

I know of two big, huge companies that are looking to relocate into a new business complex park, and how mayor McDermott misses these opportunities, I don't know.

I know if I had the handle, and was informed, I could convince them to move to Indiana. Ain't hearing no one tooting their horn saying they are scouting around, reading the news sections reading about how huge warehouses want to relocate where property taxes are fairer...

Republicans aren't well organized in NWI. It's a pretty liberal area, though I think social conservatives might stand a chance.
