I'm so sick of the news reporting how you can call a "Turkey Hotline" for your TURKEY on Thanksgiving.

As if we never baked a turkey except on Thaksgiving.

As if we're the first generation to already need suden instructions on how to "Bake A Turkey".

Has it ever occurred to anyone how obnoxious this is?

People eat more turkey today, and serve it as a main meal as much as they make FISH a part of their weekly meal.

It's not like "How to make a ...

The times had a recipe about 1 1/2 year ago for an apple crisp using apple butter to flavor the apples. I have lost it and was hoping someone here had clipped it. I checked their archives and can't find it. Thanks.

If anyone is interested, Wednesday morning I will gas up the 'Vette and head west on I-80 on my way to San Jose, California...The highlight (and purpose) of this trip will be to visit the Flora Springs winery, in nearby St. Helena...perhaps if you promise to behave like good little boys and girls, I may post some photos of my trip.

Both Anthony's in Highland and Three Floyd's in Munster are smokefree also. I think being smokefree shows respect for your customer's health and acknowledges that you are serving good quality food.
I'd like to start a thread about the NWI restaurants that you consider "hidden gems". The type of place that serves great food but virtually no one knows about. I'll start by nominating a couple places that are significantly better than more well-known restaurants serving similar food.

The first is Pita Kabab in Schererville. You can read the thread in this forum for more information about the restaurant. Aladdin Pita is a pale imitation of the food at Pita Kabab.

The last couple of years late April has produced some outstanding weather, so the produce market, which is a ministry of Marquette Park United Methodist Church, will kick off its second year on Sunday, April 19, 2009, in honor of Earth Day.
I didn’t know…….

I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself. Whoever looks at

the end of your aluminum foil box? You know when you try to pull some foil out

and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the

box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an

empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the ...

It was whole grain soft wheat so I guess that's fine for the cat. Problem was I was desperate for a sandwich. What to do?

Well I had some tortillas from the soon to be proudly located in Hammond tortillas factory and I popped a couple of them puppies in the microwave until they were just underdone. Then I put ...

Stopped at this new place a few days ago after doing some shopping in the area. It's in the strip mall on Main, just west of 41, and behind the Walgreens and TJ Maxx which face 41.

The interior is very nicely decorated, having a sleek elegance I associate with places in Chicago. Quite surprising! But we came in for the food...
