I Pre-ordered the upgrade some months ago for 49.95. It's 119.95 now.

But, for $149.00, you can get a license for 3 computers. Plus, I read that an upgrade install can take between 5 to 20 hours. Also, the best thing to do is to download a program from Microsoft advising what additional upgrades you'll need.

I don't think so. I can't find anything even close to that.

That's true. A lot depends on what content you have on your machine.

Also, the best thing to do is to download a program from Microsoft advising what additional upgrades you'll need.

In general, if your PC can run Windows Vista, it can run Windows 7. But if you're not running Windows Vista, or are just not sure if your system is ready to run Windows 7, there's a quick way to do a simple check.

Just download, install, and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Beta. You'll get a report telling you if your PC can run Windows 7 and if there are any known compatibility issues. If an issue can be resolved, you'll get suggestions for next steps. For example, it may let you know that you need an updated driver for your printer and where to get it.

REDMOND, Wash.--Microsoft said on Friday that it will charge $149 for the family pack version of Windows 7, which allows users to upgrade up to three PCs to the Home Premium edition of the operating system.

Isn't it always better to wait about a year after Windows releases a product to make sure they get all the bugs out? That's why I wish I owned a Mac.
